Can SL govern what happens privately between consenting adults?

Please just say if you are against this or not. If you're not interested, I'd appreciate if you didn't post.

I'd give you the same respect.

a) Do you think an SL government should govern what happens privately between consenting adults?

b) Do you think an SL government should only govern what happens privately between consent adults only if it impacts outside the private sphere? (lag scripting, trade in illegal informaiton, etc)

c) An SL government should never get involved.

Again, I apologize for the dual posting and I hope it's not too much to ask that you refrain from posting if the subject doesn't interest you.

Ok, well that's better than the offensive language :) I'll take that as a no vote :)

Toy,

I wasn't assuming governments or voting really. Unfortunately, I think people are getting a little shell shocked about this government thing.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that dispute resolution or whatever should never ever encroach on what people are doing privately.

This is an important concept and hopefully a fundamental right... Some people don't think so. I was hoping people would take the time to state this strongly.

Talen, would you really want to me find all your posts and spam all of them?

Player ran governments, or whatever shouldnt encroach on anything. They are clearly unwanted by the majority yet we get constant new threads about them. Government can not rule without the people behind it or the acceptance of it. Player ran governments with any say over people who dont want it, which is the majority, will lead to more disputes and perhaps revolution :)

Well ya know, it does get a little old when posting about the same subject over and over about oh.. 10+ times doesn't it? It's been discussed to death, yet still, yes I know I'm apart of that, it gets brought up time and time again, what more can you say to a broken record?

After all the ^ , I'm  -- it has personally been very difficult for me to follow what has been going on in threads prior to this, as the level of animosity has been more than I care for, not to mention the miscellaneous derailing, threadjacking, and otherwise high noise-to-signal ratio which makes it frustrating for me to follow any thoughtlines. Also, I don't care for the redundancy.

To answer the question, I'm not interested in a metaverse-wide SL government. Varying ones for private sims and certain smaller regions -- as in "self-governance" which has also been mentioned many times before -- is their business to do with. Cheers. :)
