Sex huts: how romantic A German city is rushing to install a series of drive-in wooden "sex garages" in time for next year's Soccer World Cup and an expected boom in the local sex trade, a city official said Wednesday.
Dortmund, one of 12 cities to host World Cup matches, is anxious to keep prostitutes and their clients off the streets by providing them with discreet places to do business.
Experts estimate as many as 40,000 prostitutes may travel to Germany to offer their services to fans during the tournament.
"The World Cup has put us under added time pressure, as we don't want a situation where prostitutes and their clients disturb residential areas," the official said.
Prostitution is legal in Germany in designated areas.
"In Dortmund we have an official red light district on the outskirts, but there is a problem. There is not enough space for everyone to park."
Dortmund plans to arrange the Dutch-designed huts, which have been introduced in the city of Cologne, another World Cup venue, in an area with condom machines and snack bar.
"Men have to get used to them of course, but a high percentage accept them because they can protect their anonymity," the official said.
"That said there will always be those who want to go behind a bush, under a bridge or into the woods."

Prostitution should, of course, be legalized. Sex is legal in most countries, as far as I know, thus why would providing sex be illegal. It makes no sense whatsoever.
You can take a potential partner out on a shopping spree and then have sex with them, but to simply hand them some cash and have sex with them is illegal? Again, it makes no sense.
What two consenting adults do, in the realm of sexual behavior, should be of no business to anyone but themselves.
And legalizing it would possible enable some health standards to be put into effect, and certainly cut down the chances of beatings and drug addiction, as a means of controlling prostitutes.
It could also be taxed.
And it is a very old profession. It has almost always been here, and will always be here, and harms no one if done in a safe, consensual manner.
Prostitution being illegal is one of the most ridiculous and unconstitutional laws we have.
P.S. - Wait...were you talking about Prostates? Opps..

Well - I'm going to give my typical libertarian response: Legalize it, tax it and regulate it to the extent that it's kept in areas zoned for sex trade and that workers and solicitors are kept safe from a medical perspective. Outside of that, government should GTF out of it.

Ooooh Noooo! Don't ban my prostate! And, don't make me bow low (i.e., prostrate) to obtain sexual favors in German shacks! It's un-Merkin!

Prostitution should be legal and regulated and should be considered a public health issue, that, with the current policies is failing miserably and unnecessarily placing lives at risk. IMHO, of course.
Prostration is not something you could make legal or illegal.

I live in a US state (maybe the only US state) where prostitution is legal. The prostitutes make good money, they have medical insurance, mandatory check-ups, and no small number of them are financing their way to a higher education and career. They don't owe their life and all their money to pimps, and they don't solicit on street corners to be picked up by abusers and murderers.
Our state has a high divorce rate, but the majority of the divorces are from those who live out of state, where prostitution is NOT legal.
Yes, legalize prostitution in the other states!

From: Ardith Mifflin I would like to cite Lupo Clymer as evidence of the failure of the American educational system. Naaaah, not for a typo. U.S. unemployment is holding steady at about 5.1%. 6.75% is higher, but not unusually so. But it's still not really relevant

But it's still not really relevant Evidence thus far: prostration, the US Constriction, mutually-exclusive opinions, uninformed jingoism. Also, the Dutch unemployment rate was reported by Eurostat to be 5% in April, up from 4.6% previously.

But it's still not really relevant Problem is they have always had higher then the US. We can't look at them as a solution to a problem with out looking at there problems. I feel there Drug laws and there Sex laws are right on. I think there Labor Laws are not as good. 12.3% of the 15- to 24-year-olds were unemployed in December 2004, 6.0% of the 25- to 44-year-olds and 5.2% of the 45- to 64-year-olds. By March 2005 unemployment amounted to 6.6% of the active Dutch labor force. Why because of labor laws. They also have one of the lowest Drug and Alcohol abuse problems in the world. They also have one of the lowest Rap and other violent crime rates in the world. Before we take them as something we need to follow stop and see what works and what does not. Is it relevant? Only to some one looking at the whole picture, if you’re a idiot only looking at a small part then I guess it’s not.
