Neko, I'd love to see if you get anything working with the WildDivine controller - I've got a copy of the software as well.

Hmmmm, let's see... a one time fee of $9.95. Add to that a $250 base stipend every week. At the current exchange rate that $1 per week. Play for ten weeks and you break even. Keep playing after that and you're actually making money so in essence your are being paid to play. There has to be an incentive for those people to either become premium subscribers or purchase L$ from GOM to support content creators, but there still is no obligation to do so. None of the above is rhetoric, Korg.

Nope.. wrong on the facts as well as the issue.

A Basic membership/subscription gets a whopping $50L/week.. not 250. So, first off, your numbers are off.

Second, I never said anything about exchanging money outside of SL.. that's a non-issue for me... and a moot point here.

Making money to play? Riiiiiiight.. at $50L/week it would take a couple months to buy one of Cubey's planes... and more months to buy one of Jared Zanders......

It's all rhetoric and yours is both based on false premises and bad logic.

What do you want for a one time fee of $9.95. I think the right to log in forever and see the cool stuff going on, socialize, and what have you is far more than generous. Want more? Pay for it.

Your opinion is duly noted and discarded as you might expect it to be.

FWIW, I have been paying 200/mth for a couple months now. So... having made my inverstment in this essentially-Betaware project, I feel quite justified in saying the things I have said.

I usually pay far less for far more... and for me, my payments to LL were money thrown away. YMMV.

As for generosity... lol. Tell me another one. That right to log in is not "in perpetuity" if you read the TOS. It's only for as long as LL decides to do it. They reserve the right to change the TOS without notice or recourse, also the right to argue in court that we agreed to that.... which is true. Doesn't make it right though. So, generous? Cmon.. tell me another joke. Please. I am waiting.

You're always entitled to express your opinions Korg, and it has nothing to do with how much money you pay. However I strongly expect that you are incapable of being happy or optimistic anywhere... ever.

Anyway, now that the changes have gone through, i suppose it's time to start thinking about how we can patch up the exploiting and problems that will arise from the changes.

Gee.. thanks Father Flannagan... or is it Mary Poppins.. perhaps Pollyanna?

We are not all smiles and cheerleaders in the world I live in... Maybe you are. That I am disgruntled that SL doesn't live up to its own TOS, that the hardware seems to be flaky, that the software is buggy, incomplete and inconsistently developed - those things justify the opinion itself. I won't argue my right to express that and don't need you to grant me that right.

Personally, if I ever get back in, I am going to do my best to find and exploit the latest holes... that is my new "Game" within the game.

My pleasure :) The bill is in the mail. I have this dream of seeing you in a dorothy av skipping through SL tossing flowers as you merrily swing your picnic basket and proclaim your uncontainable joy to every one you meet. It's probably just the drugs :D

You can start by hosting "educational" events and paying noobs to rate you.

Awww... you had to f*** things up and go capitalist and destroy the image... Those fools are all charitable idalists... hey.. sort of like you.

As for the image you care to see... I'll do it just for you if you can get me into SL. It'll take me all of 20 mins to make that av setup...

Then again... you'll be stuck with your Pollyanna head in the sand, cheerleader outlook AND the image of me above. Name the time and place once I get in world.

I mean really? WTF is worth paying real money for in SL? a big fat NOTHING! Nobody is going to pay to go to some club in SL and watch their avitar dance.

Makes me wonder why you're here at all if there isn't anything worth playing for in SL?

See, personally I think that's the wonderful thing about these changes. You're right.... not many people are going to go to some club in SL and watch their avatar dance if they are slapped with a fee to do it.

So with a bit of luck, we'll see something a bit more imaginative, a bit more engaging and a bit more creative than 100 places to go to watch your avatar dance! If it weeds out those lazy people who want to throw up a quick dwell trap and provide nothing in the way of interaction and entertainment... GOOD.

I for one will welcome it and support the worthwhile ones that bother to make some effort to attract their customers and actually deserve to be rewarded financially, with entrance fees, sponsorships, tips and donations.

Hmm.. gonna be seen as an attack.. but here goes anyway.

I am assuming that "playing" was a typo above... and that you meant "paying". If it wasn't, then , this post is off-point.

I honestly don't see a single thing I will pay for in world anymore. Certainly no events in recent memory come to mind.

There are a very few aircraft that I might have been tempted to buy in the last few months, but with the physics/sim border crossing problems, not any more.

Scripts? Whim purchases mostly but nothing that even remotely reaches the "I really want to buy that" level..... I will admit to purchasing a script from a friend recently, but that was more as a token of esteem to her skills and a whim purchase as opposed to a real desire for the item.

Anything else? Oh.. clothes... I've reached the point where if I only had freebie clothes to wear, I can mix and match well enough to not be seen as a total newb....so, my clothes buying days are pretty much over.

Consequently, my stipend wil accumulate in my virtual wallet.... and I would bet dollars to donuts that free events will continue to be the norm...

So... no pay and continue to "play"... while draining the economy like an anchor when I finally go to GOM and sell my $L....or just sit on them.
