Why don't they post?
Well, isn't it obvious? Just a second. Hold on. Give it a moment. Ah! Here it is... ![]() _____________________

Well honestly many of the topics discussed I just dont understand. Anything in the "Land and the Economy" "SL In-world Political Science" "Building" "Scripting" or "Animations" I dont bother with because it is too complicated for me.
I post frequently in the "New Products" thread because I enjoy finding great new things to buy and to compliment the designers work. As for this General thread I tend to only post if I have some interest in what is being discussed or if I feel I can contribute something meaningful to the discussion. |

I do post. Not as often lately cause I really get tired of talking about the same topic over and over.

It always seems like there's about a few dozen active posters and hundreds of lurkers. What reason most keeps you from posting? I'm a forum junky and total lurker. The reason I generally don't post is because if I have nothing of value to add to the topic at hand I don't see any reason to post a "me too" type post unless I feel rather strongly about the person's opinion. I prefer content over filler. ![]() Also, to some extent the forums are like reading the SL News. I get an idea of what's going on in our world. It's a way of staying current on the days events. Just like watching/reading the real news I don't feel a need to discuss each headline. ![]() -Sun |

What reason most keeps you from posting? I'd tell you, but then I wouldn't be a forum lurker anymore, and my reasons wouldn't mean anything. _____________________

I'd say mostly it's the too new thing. Oh, and severe laziness. The severity of my laziness is only outdone by my herpes.

It all depends....

If I have something to say which might add to a discussion and hasn't already been said, then I'll post. Sometimes I decide to post a response, but by the time I finish reading the thread I'm frustrated or disenchanted with the entire topic and the manner in which posters have responded to each other.
Not all topics or threads have been terribly productive lately. I try not to be baited into replying to some outrageous posts, or at least those that I feel are obnoxious or ridiculous. I mostly enjoy reading the forums. Some posters are hilarious! The fourms provide me with insight about what's happening in SL as well as little glimpses into how my fellow SLers think, use SL, and react to others in varying situations. angel ![]() |

I think we should all reflect on the relatively large vote for "I fear being flamed".
And the loss of contributions we suffer as a result of a few of us behaving aggressively, or overeacting through paranoia . Personal resolution: Try even harder to respect every view, unless others are being misled. Oh dear, thats a bit pretentious and iccky , isn't it ? To delete or not to delete, that is the question............. |

As I scanned over choices 2 & 3, I read the two lines together as "Other people fear what I am thinking." Can I have that option?

Some people in here are so smrt...intimidation. Little bit of "low profile" as well.

I really only post about stuff I care about. And lots of times, there isn't much I care about. Hmm, apathy?

i see people posting in this thread who have 2,000 to 4,000 posts, talking like they are lurkers, and explaining why they dont post.
its this very sort of thing that makes me just post to display my own ineptitude and lack of understanding on rare occasions. for a time there was this really wierd guy who kept posting pointless, useless polls, and people kept responding to them. this proves a simple fact. some people just have to post, even when its so pointless, they cant help it, they just have to post. i, on the other hand, am able to refrain, and only post pointless useless comments now and then. like this one for instance. _____________________

I don't post because I find 99% of the junk that floats across the General forum to be completely irrelevant to me, and usually I only ever read the forums to kill time.
