Ahh, I actually had to right-click and attach an inventory prim-attachment first to be able to "see" and target myself to drag the folder ONTO me. But yah, do that and you'll be visible. My title bar is still red, whatever that means... (Runs off screaming, "CODE RED! CODE RED!" since he can't login and work on his airship as he planned this weekend.)

Ahhh Logan, red title bar means = THIS IS A PREVIEW.

So no worries there. :)

Just a note. I encouraged people to try out the Preview Grid in my initial post, but I've been hearing that a lot of newer Residents are unable to connect because the snapshot of the user database on the Preview Grid was made before they signed up.

That reminds me of a science-fiction story... reroute all the survivors to an alternate reality. Would be nice, we could all huddle around a campfire.

Yes, the title bar (like Torley) changes color in a preview grid. :D

Moopf, you're being hard on Lindens, though I admit, I can understand why. If I'm right, you're paying some big money (island, land) monthly, and if the login problems were not enough, I've read your Numbakulla island (with the new game) sim kept crashing and crashing, 5-6 times a day. So, yes, you have every right to complain.

I don't know if it's short sightedness or just paced development (I vote on the latter) that, for example, made the new feature 'streaming inventory' without actually thinking of what kind of load that would put on the database.
Well, if they did think of it, some kind of caching could've been implemented on first try.

Another problem is, they tried to fix a previous problem in a small timeframe (slow logins due to inventory loading) but that introduced a much more serious another (load on DB). Also, the easy idea that the 'search runs on the database, and not on the local data' is also silly, though it makes for easier code (you don't have to check if inventory is downloaded partially, just do the search on the servers).

Actually this has nothing to do with the island and the crashes which, I have to say, have really been given little other than cursory support to, just so I'm being honest (it's a seperate bone of contention I have, but one seperate to this). This has to do totally with the inability of LL to actually solve an issue that has been around and been getting worse for months and months. We've had several fixes touted as solutions that never have been a solution, so I'm just left feeling that LL don't have the skill, ability or tight code-base to actually be able to deal with this in a pro-active and efficient way. They cannot scale this and, unless they do get a grip on it soon, I would expect them to start limiting sign-ups to mitigate the on-going compounding of the problem.

Oh yeah, there was supposed to be no teen-grid until this, and other, problems were solved. Until we had stability. They threw that out the window, didn't they.

What this all boils down to is a greater problem - that of continuing development upon a code-base that is so bug-ridden and falable as to make it increasingly unworkable. They've known about the scaling issue for a long time, they either do not have the ability to deal with it effectively or do nothing more than pay it lip-service when it becomes a hot-button issue until it fades from the psyche for another couple of months.

Either way there's incompetetence here or just that LL are way out of their depth.

A few L$, too, for uploads and stuff, please!

Just added that to my request. I'll keep everyone posted about this as well.
