LL Acount Credit For Service Interruption

Hope this teaches us all not to assume things without enough proof to back it up.

There were numerous threads ranting and raving about how LL was *NOT* going to credit anyone for the time lost during the major outages. Of course, one can't rule out the possibility that they did perform this credit due to the constant ranting.. but it's still an assumption.

Ideas and solutions are always better than rants and raves.

I see your point... but if all should be treated the same I would like the idea to become a lifetime member for only $200 and no monthly fee for up to 4096m2 of land... just as I think you did

Sounds like a decent thing to do, should not even need to be a big issue.
I run a service,I cannot provide, I will not charge for the time I cannot provide (at a minimum).
Anything else than this would be concidered a scam in this part of the world.

... You paid for a lifetime account and already own for the rest of your life with no tier payments and yet you would make a statement like this? It opens my eyes to the fact that even in the most fair situation someone manages to come out of the woodwork - someone who is actually more privledged than the majority of SL users - and tries to cut them and their actions down. You pay less than a cent a day on average at $200/lifetime, does that really compare?

On a related note - who in their right mind at LL sold lifetime accounts and why can't we still get them? Please bring them back; these people always have such inciteful commentary and i want to join up!

Hats off to LL hope this put a twist in all the grieving. After reading my email I had to run to my account history and see my credit. *gulp* I hadn't realized what 2 days has been costing me lol. Thanks LL for the credit, Wonderful gesture.

Well I looked too, and sure enough I had a credit, not as big as I would have liked tho lol, and I didn't get a reimbursement for my sim, BUT I only took it over last month, so I assume the previous owner will get it...

You can have your 2 days credit when LL gives me the option to buy a Lifetime Account just like yours.

If you read it I said I'm happy for all that did get it. The point I was making is I work as hard as anyone else, I missed the same ammount of time, had the same problems.

I'm sorry you don't have or didnt have a chance to get a lifetime account. That isnt my fault, I started the game in 3/03. When they offered Lifetime I took it as did many others. You would have too.
That doesn't mean that was Linden Labs last obligation to us. I'm entitled to the same service as anyone else. I don't think that makes me a jerk.

Lifetime memberships were offered for about US$165 for any beta players who bought one before beta ended, which was June 23, 2003. Then, for any other members who didn't or weren't able to take advantage of the beta lifetime price, they offered a lifetime membership for US$225 up until the end of December 2003. Since I joined a day after beta ended, I bought my lifetime membership at the higher price, but it has still been worth every cent and more! I do feel very lucky to have a lifetime membership, though I'm still sorry I missed out on being in beta just for the experience.

I also posted this in the Annoucements, but several users have asked about how yearly accounts are being credited, so to clarify, annual accounts are also recieving the credit - it was computed by dividing the yearly fee by 12 months and then computing the amount per day, as was done for the other accounts.

LOL - I had just joined in November, I had several friends buying lifetime accounts. I thought they were all crazy for paying that much money for a video game. A few weeks later I realized how badly I had screwed up.

I bought the lifetime membership right before the announcement of the 1.2 change to land tiers, since I received a heads up on what was to come from someone. Some good the account does me, since I still have a $195 tier fee, but it is nice not to have a monthly fee as well lol.

I just now read my e-mail. A class act! Thank you Phil and the rest of the Lindens.

If you've got a lifetime account, then I think you should be entitled to a credit for your troubles. Let's see... by my math, you're entitled to... no more than 31 cents. How's that?

And if you pay for an Island at $195.00 a month you get 13$.
I'm sure if i could afford 195$ a month the 13$ would thrill me just as much.

When I originally posted the above I thought for a moment about saying something like "of course, this will either cause discontent now or if there is ever a accidental loss of service again" but thought that would make me look like I had a dim view of human nature. I'm a lifer and am receiving no recompense and still think it was a graceful gesture and would have thought so if I wasn't and had gotten US$1 credit.

It's funny, but every time there has been some sort of credit for services failures, either in L$ or US$, I've not qualified. Last time, a quantity of L$ was given to people that had logged on durring a specific window of time, because a rollback lost whatever work they had done then. Normally I would have been on at that time, but my lunch was delayed and I didn't log into Second Life while eating it later.

This time, our credit card was lost/stolen and so it was canceled and a new one was ordered. The one they sent turned out to be an even older number from my first CC that was canceled years and years ago. Thier mistake, so they would FedEx overnight the right cards to us before we left on vacation... So much for "overnight". We went on the vacation without a valid CC. Three days delayed returning due to multiple bad-weather flight cancelations, we didn't get back until the 8th. My account was suspended for non-payment on the 6th on, so I had a halted account at the time of the refund.

I didn't read the forums while I was away, so I thought I couldn't connect just because I was using an untested internet connection. I didn't know that SL was having problems till later, or I would have kept trying to get on. I only managed to connect once while on the vacation, and made the mistake of teleporting.

It's quite humorous, I think.
