As the proud owner of a table saw, circular saw, jig saw and miter saw; I can happily say that these items make one appreciate SL all the more because I don't have to pick up any one of those tools to engage in a little SL home improvement :D

Philip sporting a bandage over his left eye sees Andrew with a sawzall

Andrew: You seen this yet? It cuts through things like a little bastard!
Philip : Yeah? can it cut through that half broken fire extingisher bracket next to all those ethernet cables?

Andrew : YOU BET! (BRRRRRRRRRR) Hmmmm I'ts tougher than I thought!
Philip : PUSH HARDER!

Andrew : Yeah! Great Idea! (BRRRRRR - SNAP - BWAP - TRIP!)

800 cables get cut in half as he falls over...

Andrew : Oops - my bad! -- Ah, we better get Pathfinder back from lunch early, I can see a storm brewing..

No power tool, no heavy construction equipment, no haptic, tactile sensory modality will stand up to... Gorilla Glue!

The ultimate tool to keep SL glued together and online.

Might want to check your disability insurance. last time I checked, they don't cover software engineers for accidental use of power tools..

I almost posted this in Announcements, but then came to my senses.

Yesterday was a good day. I bought a sawzall for Linden Lab so we could tear large holes out of things. It will make a nice addition to our collection of power tools. We've already got a benchtop milling machine, an arc welder, a band saw, an air compressor, and some kind of metal-cutting rotary saw that spews out an exciting stream of sparks.

I am moving this thread to OFF TOPIC :D

Oi Mods! When will people learn about the off-topic forum ;)

PS. Andrew, I suspect we'll see a Linden in a Reg Prescott AV sometime soon with all these power tools around (10 points to the first person who gets this reference!)

The group I work with recently invested in new office space (or rather, our first office space). Since we're building it ourselves, I mean everything from cat5 crimping to cutting wood for desks, we have power tools everywhere. We're even building and wiring our own conference table.

And I'll tell you, it's extremely therapeutic after 10-14 hours of hard coding to grab a power drill, put on some goggles and gloves, and bore through some sheet metal.

Sounds to me like you need Sliding compound miter saw with a 15 amp, 3.0 hp (max. dev.) motor and the Laser Tracâ„¢ system to project an accurate laser line on the top and side of the workpiece for precise cuts.

yeah i got hidden skills :D

LL wasn't always a software company. It was started as an exploration into haptic hardware, but we needed a virtual world to interface with the hardware. First things first.

Does that mean we will eventually get LSL calls to control our USB teledildonic peripherals? I'd make a pun about jacking in, but it's been done.
