I almost posted this in Announcements, but then came to my senses. Yesterday was a good day. I bought a sawzall for Linden Lab so we could tear large holes out of things. It will make a nice addition to our collection of power tools. We've already got a benchtop milling machine, an arc welder, a band saw, an air compressor, and some kind of metal-cutting rotary saw that spews out an exciting stream of sparks.

I am wildly curious what utility such power tools have at a software development company.

I, also, have a keyless adjustable shoe. In fact, I have two. I'm upset that instead of promoting from within *waves hand wildly* you had to recruit from outside the company.

Oi Mods! When will people learn about the off-topic forum PS. Andrew, I suspect we'll see a Linden in a Reg Prescott AV sometime soon with all these power tools around (10 points to the first person who gets this reference!)

Maybe I can finally get my husband, the power tool collector and maker-of-much-sawdust-on-weekends, interested in SL now that he knows there are power tools somehow involved!

Oops! I meant to post this in "Off Topic". Well, perhaps Jeska Linden will move it for me.
LL wasn't always a software company. It was started as an exploration into haptic hardware, but we needed a virtual world to interface with the hardware. First things first.
I neglected to mention... the milling machine was broken during our recent move, and the band-saw needs a new blade, but now we actually have a room to put the stuff now, so I might actually get around to setting them up. Fortunately, the arc welder will be useful in repairing the broken iron bracket in the milling machine, then all it will need is a new aluminum handle on the right hand side of the platform.

From: Enabran Templar I am wildly curious what utility such power tools have at a software development company. Maybe there is a connection here. From: Andrew Linden Yes, it turns out a memory leak was introduced in 1.6.5 that can drag a sim to its knees. Not all sims are affected equally because it takes a certain LSL script call (llGetSAWZALL(), I believe) to tickle the bug. Doug Linden found the leak yesterday and has already fixed it, and we'll be testing it today.

integer llSledge(key target, float force) Returns TRUE upon success, FALSE on failure. Key must be an object or agent inworld. Effect is simular to a Sledge Hammer, causes Avatars or Objects to get shorter, and skew, if used in PK areas, will inflict force damage, where 100 is 100% and will send the agent home.
