Prepare for a few dozen "We Broke the Metaverse" threads next week. :D

Actualy, going by the graphs here http://planet0.planet-zero.org/~chromal/slpop/

Late around midnight appears to be the most populated times. Unless I'm reading that wrong.
Yeah, you are... it's about 7:00pm PST when logins peak. The vertical lines delineate each day. By midnight PST, there's an average number of concurrent logins, and that figure's falling fast.

So who IS having some events for this day?

We should have a massive grid push war :)

Did we have this? I forgot about it. How many people were there?

I completely fail to see the point of this. There are quite enough ongoing failures in the SL infrastructure to provide pointers to systems requiring attention without trying to deliberately destruction test the main grid.

This sounds dangerously like an immature geekish prank, rather than some sort of useful test.

Over the last month or so my SL experience has become so incredibly frustrating, with slow and/or unresponsive sims, bad sim borders, micro crashes, BTD crashes, inventory difficulties, teleport difficulties and massive lag, that most of the enjoyment has gone from SL for me.

These days I log on and simply wait for the trouble to start - any real activity is pretty pointless as even if one can get to where one needs to be, it's only a matter of time before either movement becomes virtually impossible, a bug manifests, or a crash occurs.
About the only possible activity is staying where you log on and chatting, because simply moving one's camera pov results in a 75% fps drop - at which point one wonders what the point of the 3D world is? After all I can achieve much the same in any chat room - for free.

It seems to me that addressing stability and performance issues by destruction testing a network that is failing to work acceptably at low to moderate levels of useage is possibly one of the most ridiclous ideas I have ever heard.

I agree. Ever since the last 'update' I have had serious issues. More than any other update. For the past week I have had major teleporting issues. The past 5 days I have not been able to teleport anywhere...and yes I have removed all clothing and attachments. I have to fly everywhere and tend to get stuck several times along the way and usually have to relog. My pc is just fine and no it is not 'shadows' or 'firewalls' , which seem to be the typical Linden response to anything that is wrong at the time. I have lost several items out of my inventory lately...things that I paid for. Where do these items go? Who knows...they must end up in the same place socks do.

Just like Doc said about the chatting...I can log into Yahoo for free and make a chat room and it would be the same as me standing in my yard at home stuck because TP's fail constantly...just without the fancy scenery. At first I used to joke around that TP's were wacked because it was some sort of conspiracy to use the ROAM device...now I've lost my sense of humor on the matter.

Everyone I know has had the same issues, so it's not just me. My enjoyment of SL has GREATLY diminished. Sometimes when I am in world I wonder why the hell I am even paying for this. It has been a constant annoyance of issues lately. Our monetary contribution to SL doesn't seem to be doing much technical wise. It has given me and my friends so much grief...is it really worth it? Honestly, the ONLY reasons I haven't quit and uninstalled is because of the cherished friends and Partner that I have and the time and effort I have put into SL. I may not own a sim or have a business but I have a bit of land that I have worked my ass off to get just right and have spent quite a bit on clothing etc...just to let it all go to waste would be quite disheartening.

I am sure LL knows that 90% of the people here are still here for the same reasons as me...and in that sense we are more or less stuck dealing with the on-going neverending issues that SHOULD be fixed before reworking event calendars and the like. Alot of people have put a lot of time, heart and soul into their SL experience. We are customers and we pay for a service. It should at least work smoothly most of the time. I work at a cellphone company and if customers could only place calls 40% of the time...we'd have no customers. If the whole damn grid needs to be taken down for a day to fix teleporting...then do it. Oh I'm sure a few people would complain but it would be better in the long run. Something needs to be done...and soon. I don't even look forward to SL anymore like I used to...I always log in wondering what new problems will arise. It is really sad to have such pessimistic thoughts on a place I once loved.

Our Second Life shouldn't be as frustrating as our First Life...but lately it has been for quite a lot of people...

Arrrrgh! May your soul burn in everlasting torment in the deepest pit of Linden Hell!

You used the *C* word!

Never, NEVER, EVER use the *C* word! It is utterly forbidden!

After all, careless use of it might, in time, come to cause members of the COMUNITY (the LL approved version of the *C* word) to begin to expect something approaching reasonable service in exchange for their hard earned $! And that would never do...
It would mean approaching running SL in a business like and organised fashion. Developing things in a structured way. Addressing pressing problems, rather than having a go at whatever gimmick happens to catch your kitten like attention...

Oh no, couldn't have things like that going on, could we?
