We should all hold cool events on that day :)

Great idea! I've been worried about this since last night, with its higher-than-ever-I-have-seen number of people logged in.

Plus, it sounds like fun!

7pm is 3am UK, unlikely many Europeans will be logged in

As long as the grid doesn't go completely down between now and then, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't support 4000 users.

With say 800 sims, they're going to want at least 5 people in each sim (on average). The trick to doing this is going to be keeping people away from the "popular" sims, and getting people to go visit places on the map that are empty.

Yes, brilliant timing. Between 3am and 4am in Europe.

Mind you, on reflection it might mean that the grid will be back up by the time we get up.

Haha.

I recommend the Welcome Area, since it usualy can't handle more than 20 people with-out lagging to death! :D

Actualy, if you really want a high number, do it in a completely "virgin" blank island sim. We did a user-run stress test (everyone started teleporting friends) which got up to about 81-84 (I forget the exact number) people before the sim crashed (it was the Island sim, which later became known as Avalon). It was really really cool, but really really laggy.

Orrr, I suggest the vehicle sims! The Anniversary party was able to get upwards of 100+ people without crashing! There was however some lag, grey avatars, and you couldn't teleport out. But other than that it was great!

If your computer can handle it, I suggest logging in as many alts as possible! To do this, right click your Shortcut, go to Properties, in the Target field after the last " add: -multiple

This will allow you to run multiple instances of SL (NOT RECCOMENDED ON MOST SYSTEMS :P).

Should be one fun night! :D

Do we have bling, prim, particle, hootchie and original texture quotas to fill? :p

Maybe suggest no less than 1 of each per avie?

Just to make it really interesting! ;)

I'm willing to bring some rather large particle displays, drop a lotta scripted items that are listening on channel zero, to do my part!

The timing is dreadful - 3am to 5am in the UK, 4am-6am in France, Germany etc.

To be honest, I suspect the timing has more to do with when they think the most people will be available to be on. I suspect as well that Sunday is handy because if anything bad does happen, and the grid needs to be rebooted, the high volume of users will start to log in on Monday, when they are at work to deal with DB load issues.

I don't think its a slight to European users, but the simple fact is the majority of SL users are in the US, and making it "ideal" for the US customers will probably get more people online.

Actualy, going by the graphs here http://planet0.planet-zero.org/~chromal/slpop/

Late around midnight appears to be the most populated times. Unless I'm reading that wrong.

People in Europe don't stay up late? No one in Europe gets on the itnernet after clubbing while drunk? Most of my time in Europe is a drunken haze, so excuse my American ignorance.
