For the statisticians of the world:

During the course of this weekend a total of 269 "Walk and Talk"s were taken freely by people attending the event.

Thanks to Stillpink Sandgrain for the idea of using my "Walk and Talk" and for getting in touch with me. I hope it made it more fun to walk around for the cause.

Thanks Jade et al. You rock.

Timeless, rockin' to see you again too... got your message. Ahhh the convenience of walking and talking.

Very inspiring and for anyone who's curious, make sure to check out SNOOPYbrown Zamboni's blog:

http://slfuturesalon.blogs.com/second_life_future_salon/

Great coverage there. And Skyllar Skidoo's article:

"For a good cause" is cliche but it's sooo true. :)

My understanding is results of the events will be put up soonish, possibly by my Jadey herself.

I'm such a proud watermelon kitty!

Relay For Life - Teamwork for Life/Hope/Future
08-29-2005 09:22
I've had a chance to get some sleep  and I'm still moved by the numbers I'm seeing reported.

The amount of money (USD in thousands!) raised, the number of folks/avies that participated as well all adds up to a more than "just" warm fuzzy feeling about this strenuous & gratifying effort put forth by so many! :)

Don't forget to check out the American Cancer Society for more details and ways to continue contributing!

It's been said before, and yet needs to be said again, a humungous, SL/1st L world-wide thank you to Jade, Ananda, Squagmire, Torley, RC Moss, Hudson/Miz, Avena, Trimda, any and everyone who built, coded, contributed, dropped, wrote, hosted, donated, walked (bounced, hopped, ran, rode), toured, flew, found, figured out, fussed over, worried about, planned, coordinated, wrote about, spoke about, promoted, recorded (audio/video/script) streamed, survived, suffered, succumbed, took care of, doctored, cured anyone, anything or any aspect of this astounding event/cause/happening/fundraiser. :D

I as many, or all of us have lost friends and loved ones to cancer, count a frightening number of (prostate specifically) survivors amongst my family and friends, know more than a few folks currently undergoing treatment and testing for cancer or possible cancer concerns.

This isn't a cause for me, it's personal.

Very, intimately personal.

I am honored beyond words to have had the opportunity to contribute to the event's "experience", to hopefully make it more enjoyable, fun and pleasant to stick around a little longer while also contributing monitarily.

My participation was not singular.

I was only able to do this with the direct and specific help, opportunities, talent and resources of, at the very least, the following folks.

Outside of SL:
My father ( 10 + years prostate cancer survivor, nearly all my uncles as well)
My mother (undergoing lymph node testing currently for suspicious whatevers)
A W (Lung cancer)
F S (colon cancer)
G S (blood)
C C & M R K (both 5 + years prostate cancer survivors, both under 40 at the time)
R K T (his father, uncle & aunt died of cancer & various attendant issues)
C C (died when we were 12 of complications after a brain tumor was removed)

Inside SL:
Jade for asking
Trinity for bringing the gig to RadioRadio
Hudson & Mizuko (servercave.com/ketnar.org) for hosting, coding, babysitting, shepherding our stream & getting my system back on track in time for the event
Aazhdeen, Ananda, Armath, Hobbes, Hudson, Jade, Jazz, Kamael, Kit, MAGwolf, Mizuko, Nala, Phaedrus, RC, Roberta, Sangi, Teean, Trimda, Trinity for support, DJing, tracks, encouragement, assistance and who-knows-what-I-forgot-to-mention
And also to the various folks who helped in immeasureable, numerous and often unseen ways. :D

It may take a village to raise a child

It takes a world to survive

We all get there together

The more "together" we are, the better the journey

I saw over 700,000 (L) signs of just how "together" the folks of SL can be this weekend

Sure gives one hope, doesn't it?

*Stands up and applauds wildly*

I couldn't have said it better than any of the folks that posted prior to me. I'm moved, simply touched.

Great job to everyone involved!

Well Done!!

Jade Lily, RC Mars and all the participants are to be complimented for their efforts and generosity on behalf of the American Cancer Society! The First Ever Virtual Relay for Life was a tremendous success! The Relay itself was a moving experience and the "Campers" did a wonderful job.

Well Done!

I would also like to Thank all those who gave thier Lindens to support this wonderful event! As a Patient Member of ACS I can attest to the need for every dollar!

I would also like to add a personal Thank You to the members of T1Radio Listeners, the La Vie en Rose (Rue dAlliez) groups, and the dAlliez Sims for thier efforts! Together these Groups raised more than L$260,000, nearly 25% of all monies raised! You guys make me Proud!
