If Someone on the Forums pisses you off, do you stop buying their products?

I have a fun line-of-sight based on breakbeat editing techniques. That is, to say, over the longterm, I tend to support the wonderful things as envisioned and created by nice people. After all, aye, customer service is important in case I have a question or break something. I'd hate to get some nasty responses when asking for help! O.o

It depends, if someone says something that upsets me in the forums because I do not agree with them, then YES I leave it in the forums... If someone is down right hateful and throws personal attacks at me or others, I will avoid them in world and not purchase from them.

I don't think I would.....just because someone vents or states their opinion on the forums may not necessarily take away from the talent that they have to produce an item I would like to buy. Now if they made a personal attack on me or anyone else I respect, with malicious intent....then I would definitely not buy from them or request a service. I wouldn't want to contribute to their income if they suck.

Yes but only for things that really cross the line - which amounts to hate speech.

Since I don't spend much because I don't have much to spend, I don't buy much anyway, but I wouldn't boycott anybody's products. In fact, when one of those boycotting things gets going, I'm more likely to buy somebody's product or use their service just to NOT boycott. coco

I can think of several merchants that would have to come to my house on a Sunday morning at 5:30 am with Bush and Cheney (who then go about teasing my parrot Jake), take a dump in my living room and make me listen to Toby Keith music in order to get me to stop buying there wares. So be warned! I would find that unacceptable!

WE are expanding like crazy and having a lot of fun in the process. I dont have all the locations listed yet since we are still building and getting underway.

From: SuezanneC Baskerville Pendari gave April a correction which caused April to change a post, but Pendari has quoted the changed part in her correction post.
Optimally now Pendari would delete the corrective post, April would delete her response to the correction, and I would delete this post; then the timeline would be restored to it's proper path with no malformed causal loops. Sorry - it's not as simple as that. I'm afraid one of you will have to go back and kill their grandfather.

Posting not buying
09-18-2005 04:26
The one and only time I stopped buying something in someones store had nothing to do with these forums. Actually it was going to the store, admiring the owners products and getting ignored as this person never acknowledged me being a bit busy kidding around with a group of her friends. As for any owners who do not want customers in their store, or certain ones, I am sure I can find one where my lindens are more than welcome. I believe even in sl, customer service means something, I have returned many times to stores where the owner sent me a thank you im, or was in store and thanked me for buying. I also came up with the idea of a greeter, or being one, to stand in a store and offer to assist people, let them know their business is important, I must say this is going well. Thanks to all who resonded to my ad that I was looking to be a greeter, its been a ton of fun and I enjoy being able to give something back to this sl.

I can't comment on this experience since I don't know the details, (At least I hope not, it wasn't me, was it!? ) but as someone who usually likes to let people shop in peace, I can understand how this may have happened. I'm happy to chat with my customers and answer questions if they greet me, but I rarely greet them first. In RL, I hate being bothered by salespeople when I'm trying to shop. I know it's their job, and that some people want to be acknowledged, but personally I just want to get what I came for and leave. If I have questions, I'll ask. I don't want my customers feeling pressured to buy anything, or feeling stalked, so I leave them alone and let them go at their own pace and buy or not as they see fit. If you think someone might be ignoring you, greet them first and see how they respond, then judge from that. Otherwise, they might just be giving you some space to browse without feeling hounded. Yes, I have to admit to there being one person who has lost all my business (whether buying their stuff, or attending events on their land) due to past forum attacks directed at me. (Coincidentally, they are the only person on my ignore list to have responded to this thread) There is one other person from whom I would never buy products due to their forum behavior, but until today I had no idea that they even made and sold anything! This is a most informative thread. Oh, wait. There's that other person, forgot about them... but I know for sure they don't create anything... ...I have THREE! THREE! Three is the magic number of people to dislike enough to boycott their business, it seems!

I prefer to use whatever information I gather from this forum to direct me to those I'd like to support instead of boycotting. I'm not much of a shopper though, so I mostly point others who DO shop to those individuals. It's more enjoyable remembering the nice people.

Taken from another viewpoint (and remember, I buy hardly ANYTHING,) I look at it more as - hey that's a neat item, I buy it, and then I figure that person is bound to be neat, too! Such as my talking sheep backpack and talking seagull. I forget who made those, but they are the only thing I ever bought (outside of textures and a couple of $20 items), and I would be on the lookout for more products by this person, because they reflect my own sort of whimsical sense of humor. I like the product, I like me, therefore I must be gonna like whoever made the product - or something like that, lol. coco

From: Zuzu Fassbinder Anyone have stats on what % of players read the forums? I'm betting its low enough that it would make almost no impact on sales even if you were a total jerk. Bingo. The forums represent 1 - 2% of the entire SL population. And not only that, forum posters are cheap.

Generally speaking I know that disagreement in the forums, at least for me is usually over narrow issues. I thus try very carefully not to judge people by thier arguments on the forums. To me quality is quality, and thus I buy good products. I figure I don't have to like a chef to enjoy the omelette.
Now poor customer service will keep me from going back.
I certainly agree with jonquille that I will by products from nice people, just to support them. Also I can conceive of conduct which would make me boycott a store. If someone constantly harasses me, then I'd not give them lindens.

So far in all my time in SL I've only encountered one person so ill-tempered and vile that I'd absolutely refuse to buy from. I'd also hope they never buy my stuff or ask for support regarding thereof, they'd be getting a swift refund and told to take a long walk off a short wharf.
