It was great to hang with everyone yesterday. We had quite a crowd! Thanks so much to the Lindens for having us over... and extra special thanks for the tour of the data center! It was kind of funny, Philip had never been to the data center, so we got to see if with him for the very first time.

I can assure you, the ASSET SERVERS ARE *NOT* COMMODORE 64s! :-)

And a great time was had by all...

Well I certainly did, and everybody else gave every appearance of doing the same. Many thanks to the Lindens for opening up their offices, and for a tour of the mighty edifice that houses the grid. That was truly impresssive. Special thanks there to Jeska, Ian, Philip and Bub for herding cats and getting us around town.

Drinks afterwards were great, with a chance to socialize with the Lindens. They're a great bunch, very friendly, and have good taste in bars. I just wish I'd eaten a little more, and drunk a little less... :o

sounds fun..

apparently to those in attendance, i'm not there.. still over here in NJ.

by the time i figured out that i would be able to manage it time-wise, i found that it would've cost close to US$2,000.. at the very least. with that in mind, i decided.. maybe next time. lol..

so, i'm assuming they'll be a thread started to post pics and stuff over in Off-Topic? or maybe here in General? either way, i'll be looking forward to hearing (and seeing) all that i missed.

if you guys go out drinking again (heh.. "if" ), feel free to do a shot for me. as a matter of fact, here's a tasty one i created:

Head Hunter
-
Malibu
Vanilla Vodka
Half & Half
--chill (shake with ice)--
add a drop of Grenadine

sounds weird, tastes like dessert. ;)

Not sure where in New Jersey you are (or if that info's accurate), but JetBlue between NY/JFK and Oakland would work nicely, and cost a couple hundred. And I just heard that they'll be flying out of Newark as of October. Ah, flying out tomorrow morning at 9:25 and back Wednesday morning at 11:10 would cost $277.

I don't work for them, btw. I just want them to go everywhere I want to go.

Didn't think I was going to be able to make it at first (had to work late), but I was able to show up and catch some of the heartier-partying residents and Lindens.

Let me tell ya - it was fun and that Jeska is what a barrel of monkeys wishes they could be! ;)

Good stuff, all around!

The data center tour was a highlight. I'm glad we had the chance to see it.

The asset servers are impressive, superior hardware. Past forum complaints about hardware are utterly misplaced.
