Pfft Alex. Come to my property with your guns and let's have this conversation. You'll have to agree not to abuse report me out of frustration though when you get blown off the grid and I'm standing and laughing. I've been building guns in SL for 10 times as long as you've been a resident, and built one of the first, if not the first, mobile personal shields. I've also distributed tons of ban and other security scripts.
Ok, that's exaggeration. More like 7ish times.
Guns work no differently now then ever. More features perhaps, but the fundamentals still work the same way.
And by the time the shooter has pushed the push button...it's too late to sit. You apparently assume all griefers are wearing flashing towers and shouting their intentions. And I'd really rather not be so scared of griefers that I'm afraid to stand up on my own land.
Regarding "push guns", those are not guns at all. People build them to look like guns, but it could just as easily be a piece of jewelry or a rabbit. And yes, they are illegal. You level a push script at me from off my land and execute it, yes, that is always illegal unless you are in a combat sim. Always. But I'm obviously not referring to combat sims.
I'm not talking about strictly defensive. I'm talking about going on the offense. That's what you seem to be missing.
It's ok grasshopper, you'll learn. I admire your enthusiasm, it's so cute. Remind me to send you 100L$ next time I'm in game so you can buy yourself something nice.
You are dismissed. Enjoy your day!

From: Tcoz Bach The offenders were 100 percent in violation. Like, completely. Nobody anywhere disputed it. My worst detractors actually defended me in this instance, stating the obvious: I was there first, I was not in violation, I didn't owe anybody any explanations for why I kept my land the way I did. I did defend you on that one, because you were right, and they were wrong. What they were doing was inexcuseable. That said, they are gone, but your mountain isn't.

I am myself indifferent honest; but yet I could accuse me of such things that it were better my mother had not borne me: I am very proud, revengeful, ambitious, with more offenses at my beck than I have thoughts to put them in, imagination to give them shape, or time to act them in. What should such fellows as I do crawling between earth and heaven? We are arrant knaves, all; believe none of us.

Yes reit but I had to endure it for just over two weeks. At the time I was working on a project on my land and was online a great deal. It very much compromised my experience.
That's not good enough. I would much preferred to blow them away every time they crossed the boundaries of my land, and in retrospect, that is exactly what I should have done. And what I will now do. I'm inspired to resurrect and polish up some of my old war scripts.
Also, I don't believe the users were ever disciplined, I believe the decision to move was entirely their own will because they couldn't force the Lindens to make me comply.
What's funny is, they shot themselves in the foot, because they forgot that Natoma land can essentially be raised to the sky since it was one of the first sims and was not subject to the later land height and gradient rules. Hah can you imagine their frustration when I turned a quiet little green hill into Mt. Everest.
