I gave up on trying to plan for events ahead, the times on them are so weird for me.

Generally I just pay attention to the messages they give.

I have to agree with the original post.
I normally have no problem converting 24 to 12 hour time, and I normally have no problem converting PST to local time...

But for some reason doing both at once makes my head hurt and makes me sad.

Again, the simplest solution as many people have suggested above is a clock in the UI showing the current SL time.

I support this product or service :P

Need something like the military uses, its called Zulu time. Its for all of the forces, no matter where they are, to have the same time so they can coordinate thier tactics. This would be good for people in other countries who are in SL, so they can know when events occur.

Edav, that would be exactly like what's already in place: Second Life time. It just happens to match PST.

You're all smart enough to learn Second Life yet can't work out a 24 hour clock?

Give it a couple of weeks and you won't even notice any more. The rest of the world uses 24 hour clock so if you ever plan on traveling you might as well get used to it.

why don't we have the 24 hour clock in a corner of the interface? that would solve all the problems.

Another option: go buy a cheap windup/battery/electric clock. Set it on your desk by your monitor, set it for PST.

Heck get one that displays 24hr format.

I'll try and edit my little wrist watch that I have in my shop to do conversions (voice activated), and set an alarm on it so it ding-dongs at a time you can preset.

haah @beats/swatch = something so stupid I can't even begin to think about it without wanting to laugh and curse like a drunken sailor. Ever wonder why no one respectible/with a brain uses it?

Anywho, I've updated my little watch script. Watch does:
--reports time in 12-hour format, with AM/PM tag.
--converts given 24-hour format into 12-hour (you say "miltime 23:04" it replies "That's 11:04 PM")
--you can set an alarm to alert you for a time you supply.

Available for $10 at my shop in Blue (230,40).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't ZULU time (or military time) supposed to be world time - like GMT without daylight savings or summertime? I noticed since 1.1 dates are GMT.

As with many things, the more one tries to make things easier, the more unnatural it gets.

Example: I speak several languages to a certain level, but am simply incapable of doing more than 2 at the same time. Likewise, I am perfectly capable of dealing with any 2 timezones (being EST and CET). In SL, PST was added first, and now GMT, ZULU, military time, with or without daylight savings, or whatever it is they are using.

A ZULU type of notation of PST is confusing things even more. It's almost like introducing Linden Pound Sterling, Linden Guilders, and not to forget Linden Krone (slash-through-o, I believe). Most Amies have a hard enough time dealing with meters already. Pick any system/notation, but please pick one and stick with that.

It has nothing to do with not being smart enough to handle doing it, which is insulting. It was an arbitrary change made to solve the sorting problem in the events list, instead of correcting the underlying problem. That's fine - however, it is inconsistent with the way that events are listed on the web site, and also scheduled, and when combined with time zone differences (which you don't deal with in trying to figure out your current time in whatever country you happen to be in, thank you for the lesson on world time), it is cumbersome - it can be left in, I am just asking for an option instead of having it forced on us.

I dont wanna buy a watch I want it to be one at the event tab showing Linden time and then the events in the same format.

Krone is correct - no ΓΈ's in that one :)
