Well my take on the subject..... I have been here since March 2004. I have been though 5 or 6 relationships and I have found the only way to make it last is if its still intresting as it was when you got toghter. Right now im with my SL and RL love Jena we have been through 7 or so month off and on RL and SL. But through it all she has stuck there with me since the day I brought her to SL in June 2004. But with SL, its just as cazry sometimes as RL. You cant build a future if you cant be truthful in your heart and with your partner. SL is just a game but a relationship is a real emotional bond. I think alot of the reaons SL relationships dont last is there is so much freedom. You can talk to whoever you want and your partner or spouse will NEVER know unless someone tells them. But everyone has the power to make an SL relationship work if you both have the dedication and commitment with passion and or love to keep it strong.

What is the estimated time an SL relationship lasts?

Depends on what kind of relationship you're talking about. If you mean the kind of dramatic relationship that some SL "couples" (or various combinations of couples) have on these forums - where they go after each other day after day after day after day - SL relationships last forever.

You didn't really think lasting relationships in SL were about "love", did you?

SL relationships last about 1 event. SL 'always and forever true love' lasts about 3 months, tops, if you have alts.

I honestly think it depends on what the relationship is. I was married in TSO, I'm with someone RL too. However, my TSO husband and I were friends. There wasn't any cyber, there wasn't any whispering sweet nothings to one another on the phone. We just enjoyed each other's company enough that we married each other. If he joined SL today, I'd have a SL relationship too.

For me, my personal opinion is, my RL relationship is enough work, why the hell would I want to get with someone in game that I needed to work at the relationship with as well?

So for me, the people that are friends first and foremost in RL have the most successful game relationships. *shrugs*
