Lately, we have seen rise to many groups wanting to fix various "problems" in SL. Each has their own agenda, angle, motives, whatever you want to call it. In dicussing this with someone today, I realized that all this ado about fixing SL could potentially do more harm than good. If anything, "fixing" SL could refer to fixing in the sense of what one does to a pet to keep it from reproducing. In the zeal to mold SL into the likeness of various interests groups, there is a real danger that all that will be accomplished is neutering what is special and unique about SL: the freedom that we all share.
While certainly there is always room for improvement, and genuine problems have occured as part of SL's growth over the past two years, the constant acrimony and pretensiousness of any group thinking that they know what is best for SL, and all of us by proxy, is the real problem that needs fixing.

Cris, I could not agree more! This was my major problem with recent events, everyone trying to "fix" SL rather than leave it an open and flexible environment. I was really relieved by Philip's comments who I think shares the same principles of open self-evolving virtual world, but of course he somehow have to respond to interest groups. How about we start a group called "Leave SL alone!"

So what your saying is the best thing for SL, and all of us by proxy is to leave it alone? LoL. (Sorry-it was just there). Put both nipples up on snapzilla! Besides eveyone is entitled to my opinion. I am Jake the Borg. SL will be assimilated, resistance is futile.

Does Justice come in both salted and savory? If so, count me in! .... If you're happy and you know, run up to a catholic vegetarian and say 'Body of Christ?'

Can you give tell us what are the "thickly layered euphomisms" in the original post? Also, can you explain to us how you decided on the thickness of the layers on each of these euphomisms? How thick are they? Also can you tell us what are the "malinteded metaphors" in the original post? How did you deduce that they were malinteded? Also, why did you think this post would confuse those who seek justice, are you suggesting they are not smart enough to understand what it's trying say? Can you elaborate please?

Only I know what's best for SL, and all of you by proxy. But I'm not going to tell LL, or any of you, because I'm mean enough not to want you to have what's best for you. So there.

From: Cristiano Midnight ... many groups wanting to fix various "problems" in SL. Each has their own agenda, angle, motives, whatever you want to call it.. Cristiano, I think you put your finger on the main issue - while it's true there are improvements that can be made to SL, these groups assume to know precisely what the problems are. And while someone like your or I may start discussions here, with friends, or in a blog, it's framed in a format of opinion and communication, rather than some sort of psuedo-government that is hardly representative.

"fixing" something implies there is something broken. Instead of picking a side I will simply ask a question, the obvious one:
"Is SL broken?"

Now returning to our regularly scheduled platform, Second Life, featuring all resident, stakeholder, tourists, landowners, leasers, players, gamers, builders, content creators.... does anyone in the forums actually spend time in SL these days? It's like one really bad sitcom. Someone cancel it already.

angel Honestly, nope I haven't spent much time at all in SL since LL announced it wasn't a game. I have however been playing an online game. I am sure I will log in from time to time to finish texturing my cottage and such. At this time however I have 0 interest in the SL business plan. Perhaps if a few weeks went by without yet another negative change like stippends being cut again and such perhaps I will log on. Right now however I prefer to do something that is made specificaly for me to have fun in. Cat

Can't blame you for that, Catherine. I've always believed carrots work LOTS better than sticks. On the other hand, they've now made SL completely free for everybody, so that's good, at least. coco
