Kill the boardwalk I say!! Clara is lagged and we don't need it!

Does anyone hold events at the boardwalk? No!

Does anyone play at the boardwalk? No!

Do we need that much lag? No!

Can we use the the space it will free up when taken away? Yes!

Please? :)

Yeah, remove the boardwalk, like you removed all the landmarks i never got to see. I went exploring the other day and found that the so called attractions marked on the map did not exist.
We dont need more room to have people build crappy prefab houses and default cabins, thank you very much.

What if, instead of destroying it, we had a "boardwalk manager" who fixed it up and made it cool again?

That's what they did with the other Linden-owned builds... and fixing up the boardwalk might actually be cool!

Anyone interested in the taking it over idea? I think the basic design of the boardwalk is quite nice and with some work the games that could be done there very cool.

I would be interested EXCEPT I see no way with the current population and economy of making enough to cover the land costs / taxes.

I nominate Ama Omega to manage the Boardwalk, on the condition that he is paid, in full, for the land taxes every week.

:D *evil*

Hah, Chris, sorry, wasn't trying to place Ama into a position here ;)

I'm sure that if people are willing to "manage" the boardwalk (and judging by the immediate responses, I'm incredibly glad I suggested the idea before anyone else could :D) they will handle the "hiring" process the same way they have for the disco and the casino. Heh...

Boardwalk
Casino
Disco

I love noticing stupid alphabetical things like that....

Anyways, what I really want to say is that I nominate anyone who wants to manage the boardwalk, because I'd love to see the place fixed up :D

Come on, Nyna, be honest. Your house may have started as a prefab, but it's not even close anymore.

And you know good-and-well that Eggy is referring to unmodified prefabs, straight out-of-the-box.

Here's a quote from your recent mention in NWN, referring to the prefab in question: "Have you seen the original?" Nyna asks. "Yuck."

How can you honestly be offended by someone referring to something as "crappy," when you yourself refer to is as "Yuck?"

Well, Darwin, the Boardwalk could be a venue for some delightful events. we could have boat shows and beauty pageants there. You could even have an old-fashioned Victorian Style Promenade, foe the dudes amongst us to wear their newest outfits. It might be underused, certainly but it can't be adding that much lag to Clara.

Hah you should have seen it yesterday (and Chris can back me up here), it was pretty bad. I had to relog twice on a 2.8GhZ Alienware, so...

Well, things ARE getting a little tight, property wise, we've had to help quite a few new residents find a lot to build on, lately, and I've seen some heavy prim use in some of the new houses...

The house is the same house it always was.

1. The size of 2 of the green prefabs next to each other.

2 Changed the glass balconey to a wood text and replaced the half glass over balconey with full glass and doors. The glass used was the glass from the lower lvl, just changed to wood from blk grid .

3. Enclosed the 1st lvl under the baloney.

4. On the left side only part of the second floor was added and attached for the( bathroom).

5. Added stairs, deck, doors and more windows.

Yes I said "yuck!" about the original. It is/was a horrible green. The neighbors house shown as the original, had been changed to blue. Yes, still a prefab and those alterations can be done by anyone with a little thought. Not everyone comes to the game a expert builder. I certianly am not one. Linkin learned as he went putting the Prefab together. There are other prefab house designs availible. I would rather have a house out of a box, that is bigger then the cabins we get, then to live in big prim with a texture put on it.(Yes I realize that everything in the game is all bascily prims)
WE HAD to use this perticular prefab, do to the restrictions in Boardman and Brown. We had a blue Beach house Pre fab, before this one. I did't think that was yuck at all.
The whole point of Hamlet's article was to show the plus sides of the prefabs. We did not replace the original frame work,as was stated in the article. We used it and just changed the color and textures.

Well, something does have to be done about the boardwalk. If noone picks it up it should definately be torn down- I have never seen the games in working order (and the permissions arnt set, so your $5 doesnt get refunded ;)). Not only that, but the minigolf thing is only partly there because of public decay- and floating particles of a miniature castles arnt my idea of good scenery.

P.S.-Who says prefab houses would go there? Besides they look better than some other things ive seen up..

I have never actually seen the Boardwalk, cuz I lag even being within /sight/ of that place! It's a shame too, because I always wanted to look around and have never been able to. Same with the casino, though I haven't been back to look since it was taken over by Dave.

Gotta disagree this time. The Boardwalk just needs a bit of renovation. Also, the lag in Clara can't be pinned all on the Boardwalk. Take a look at the rest of Clara, and you will see why.

Why not release the boardwalk to a group of people whom would be interested so the combined incomes could support the taxes? I think the task even besides just financial issues could be better accomplished by a board, opposed to a single manager. But either way, I think the boardware would represent one of the main things SL is missing: Something to do besides building and talking non-stop. Having other outlets (i.e. Games) I believe is quite important.

Now I may be mistaken but i think people are getting 2 things confused. By boardwalk you mean the place in the water with games and stuff right? I never really checked it out but i've seen it, now when talking about prefabed houses your talking about boardman? 2 seperate places right? am I confused?

Have you ever been to Ama's arcades throughout the world, I used to love playing at them...

I thought Ama took down the arcades due to abuse.... Never-the-less, there is much larger potential than just gambling games. While they are fun, especially if you win money ( :) ), I see a larger potential, and a lacking, especially in multi-player games. (Plug: Ex: My chessboard in Tan)

You would be correct. That doesn't mean they are *staying* down.

I worked for a while making some new tracking and security scripts and now I am working on a new payment system entirely that will consolidate the number of places that actually take money, and thus make tracking it that much easier.

The Well in Taber is up, I will probably open up the Well in Perry and the Well in DarkWood this weekend. I also have the coin flip game up, as soon as I put the coin back in it (it flew off world last night lol).
