I dislike having to get special treatment. I find I end up beholden and involved in multi party politics.. not a place I ever want to be.

This is actually interesting as it means that businesses can't have joint avatars for accounting purposes. Several projects I've been involved in would benefit from a mutual avatar. Lots of projects need a group treasury or an avatar to hold items used by several people. This is exactly it, Roberta. I think fundamentally this is necesasry unless LL plans on coding all this functionality some time in the near future. Regardless though, what if any of us get hit by a bus? Who's going to log in and cash out our L$ / Content business? LL has their head buried on this one. _____________________

I'm starting to realise, as I'm sure the rest of you already have, that the TOS is meaningless legalese.
This is unfortunate, I think, as I like rules and I like to respect them .. they create a certain fairness and justice. _____________________

And from my experience they don't give permission to opt out of bits of the TOS. (although this may have changed). Pointing out the obvious multiple alts didn't change that in any way.. _____________________

Modulo the fact that you are trolling like mad after a week or so of gratuitous and assuredly sincere ass-kissing, you have an naieve conception of contracts, the ToS and, when people or firms pull out their attornies.
Sure LL knows that the proprietors of GOM are sharing passwords for the bank account AVs. Do they wish to enforce this rule against GOM? No, it would be in no one's interests to. Do they even need that clause if they want to shut out GOM? Nope. Just like a restaurant they have the right to refuse service to anyone for no reason at all. Are you being a dope for whining about it here instead of contacting LL with your revolutionary idea? Unlikely, you're prolly just trolling, again. And here I am giving you attention. *embarrased sigh* |

This is unfortunate, I think, as I like rules and I like to respect them .. they create a certain fairness and justice. Actually the password/usage issue is an old one. The snippet you took was part of a larger picture but obviously the information should be where you took that snippet. The rest seems to be in another post made here (sorry forggeting name as I type). The idea is that if you give Tom, Sally, and Harry your password and they go on a PvP spree...to bad it's you fault, have a nice day, don't let the door hit ya. If Billy hacks your account and gets your password or gets it by some other illegal means then the can have other actions taken against them. The first is done with your concent by handing them the password, the second is done without your knowledge. _____________________

Responsibilty is not my issue. That is in the TOS and I fully accept that.
What I have a problem with is the wording which says its against the TOS to disclose your password, which is clearly not what the reality is. _____________________

If they did not put that in there or said "sure give them your password" and then something bad happened they would be held liable for any damages that occured cause they said it is acceptable. There are hundred of ways and hundreds of headaches that password sharing can cause and that is what LL is trying to avoid along with every other ISP, internet company, and games. I know this cause I watch it happen both present and past over and over and over again and people expect companies to be liable. _____________________

...call me a kook, but im not seeing what the issue here is...
if you dont want to share your password, dont. if you want to share your password, do it, but accept the results, bad or good. is there really any more to say about this? _____________________
