For commercial purposes, it gets more traffic.

To get traffic someone has to stay on a plot for longer than 5 minutes...if most people just immediately fly off then there is no increased traffic....that's what I'm trying to figure out if more people hang around a bit or most people just take off.

i immediately fly to my destination. i only stop to look around if something happens to catch my eye while flying by. and that rarely happens.

Fly to telehub then get the hell outta there... only because I can't teleport directly where I want to go.

If you ask me setting up shop somewhere where other famous and frequently visited shops are is better than just plunking yours at the nearest telehub. I never stop to look around at telehub, in fact I usually multitask for a few minutes so the lag clears from loading the area then fly out because it's usually cluttered and laggy. I'm more likely to notice an interesting looking location near my destination since I actually stick around there.

I use the ROAM device.
So basicly, I just type in the sim name and coorinates of where I want to go, hit enter, read forums for a while, alt-tab back and find I'm where I want to be. Really saves the hassle. It's probably worth pointing out that I despise telehubs so much that I will blissfully roam from one extreme end to the continent to the other instead of teleporting first, even if teleporting first would be faster. I wish to have nothing to do with the crass and tactless garbage around telehubs. |

I teleport and flee the hub and all it's clutter as fast as I can. Most hubs are covered over in tacky, flashy, lag inducing builds/shops. Instead of attracting attention it repels most.

The destination is the mall and the "looking around" is only because you are trying to find a way in or find the exact store. Nothing to do with the hub at all IMO. _____________________

I get to a telehub and fly straight up a few hundred meters to get out of the mess and over building tops, then fly straight towards my destination. I'll only explore after I get to my destination, unless I'm going somewhere specifically to explore.

Actually, before leaving the area of the telehub, I fly straight up (when possible) to get above the traps set aroudn the hub, and then fly off to my destination.
And, I try to fly along road lines, when I can, or waterways. Less likely to get smacked by invisible buildings that way. ![]() |

Telehubs would be more effective if rezzing times around them were not necessarily slow. Because people tend to lay as much content as possible in and around them, the result is usually sluggish rez times versus the speed of a TP.
To their credit, they do work in terms of advertising, especially for newbies. But as a general concept, some "tweaking" might help. And by this I don't mean trying to "trap" avatars. I mean increasing rez times and, by that token, working on the speed of streaming content. _____________________

I find telehub malls to be completely ineffective. I've got a scripted flight attachment that boosts my flight speed to something approximating Plaid Speed. As soon as I port in, I pop up to about 300 meters, then fly straight toward the red column until I reach my destination. I will slow down from time to time and explore an area, but I usually ditch the telehub area immediately; there is rarely anything to look at near telehubs, apart from a sea of laggy, slow-rezzing commerce.

Don't you just love the telehubs in some of the newer areas that have roofs over them that you hit even though they have not yet rezzed fully? (sarcasm meant)

I'm mainly for #3.
TP to the nearest telehub and immediately fly to my destination Yupyup. I use my Wet Ikon ROAM extensively and heartily endorse it. ![]() I'm with Verkin on this! So basicly, I just type in the sim name and coorinates of where I want to go, hit enter, read forums for a while, alt-tab back and find I'm where I want to be. Really saves the hassle. HAHAHA! I couldn't agree more. I come post on the SL Forums, or sort my inventory, or answer IMs. That is one benefit of ROAM that is sometimes overlooked, but the automated flying is sooo welcome and definitely comes in handy. You can earn money, but you'll never get that time back, yo. ![]() Telehubs are such a sad, sad waste of time and inefficiency for me. It's really disappointing. I feel so utterly conflicted because I lurve the art design... but what... WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO ME?!?!!?!?!! I've seen some of them hundreds, even thousands of times. Now, I do have friends and strangers-to-become-friends with near-telehub land and if that happens to be my destination, SURE I'll stop. Once in a pink moon I'll even run up a fascinating convo, provided none of the parties fly away quickly. But all too often there are things treaded over and over redundantly that I've already seen, and haven't changed. In fact, I'm compelled to fly faster away from the buildings or right through them before they've rezzed! I don't use the hubs either. I teleport, shoot straight up, and go to my destination.
I'm explore the area around my destination when I'm done there. I've found several great stores and homes that way. Places that probably weren't advertised at the telehub anyway. |

Ok before I get yelled at *cowers*, I don't like telehubs, I don't like telehub malls, I'd rather we had direct teleport, but..
I have rented in a lot of places including telehub malls. I went through a spat of renting anywhere I could.. At normal malls I just about broke even on my rent, these are malls that aren't near anything that generates a lot of dwell, and aren't RIGHT next to a telehub. But at telehub malls I made about 40% more sales. And at places that generated a lot of dwell, like clubs that rented space I made about 50% more sales. My theory is that its new players that either get stuck in telehub malls or something catches their eye. And that very few new players read the forums, and therefore voted on this poll.. Thats my theory anyway.. _____________________

You didn't allow for a two-vote option. If a friend is there who can TP me, that's my first choice.
If a friend is not there, I TP to nearest telehub, then immediately /roam to my destination. That means I go shooting straight up from the telehub and then blazing across the 1-4 sims to my destination at about 1000 meters altitude, then straight down on top of my exact /roam coords. I *never* look at the land around a telehub. It's always nothing but marketing crap and visual crap and lag city. |
