There's nothing contradictory about that. Just because you're in a group doesn't mean you're ruled by somebody. In fact the whole idea of anarchism is to work as a group while not being ruled by anyone.

As a political movement, Anarchy is the absence of Hierarchy.

The rest is left as an exersize for the student.
Hint: look at the definition of Hierarchy
