All is well and all shall be well. Wouldn't an interest in "...secondhand story(ies)..." be gossip, and thus have nothing to do with Journalism?  _____________________

Wouldn't an interest in "...secondhand story(ies)..." be gossip, and thus have nothing to do with Journalism? Journalists aren't lawyers -- there's not a "hearsay" problem here. If you can quote X saying Y and Z did something, you're NOT WRONG -- X after all DID say that Y and Z did that something (whatever it was)! Whether Y and Z ever actually did what X is claiming or not is largely irrelevant; what you're actually reporting is only what X said. That is, you're not making any direct claims yourself as to the validity of X's claim. Then of course if you want to be thorough, you can follow up on that claim and try to verify it, so as to be able to report the claim as actual fact itself.  |

Thats what he told me about the first article and it did not turn out that way. IM me inworld if you have concerns. I would NOT do it again after the first one. Mm. Definitely might be smart to check this out, too, though, before talking to him. Wise journalists ARE ethical in their conduct -- if only to ensure that people will continue to trust and talk to them -- but of course you nevertheless don't HAVE to be wise OR ethical to be a journalist. |

I'd also like to know if you have linden approval for this Joe. Im sure I cant be the only one that is unhappy about having RL journalists running around in world looking for tabloid stories on heartache and pain.

Well.. I for one never said it wasnt ALLOWED, i simply stated that i have seen from past incidents that Lindens do like to check into the legitmacy of such things.
Secondly - yes in the REAL world, papparazzi follow celebrities all the time and write about their sordid affairs. Id like to point out a few things about this: 1. WE ARE NOT CELEBRITIES 2. THIS ISNT THE RL WORLD 3. CELEBRITIES IN MOST CASE DO SUE (Our law case books are prime examples of celebrities suing, from Vanna White to Jesse Ventura) Id like to reiterate that i never said it wasnt allowed - and im sure YOU or anyone else can agree as gamers we like to be protected from exploits. Yes, we should be smart enough to realize what we're getting into - but some ppl are vulnerable and others are just plain stupid and need all the protection they can get. I too, liked the article Joe wrote. It's fabolous. But it wont be so fab if he uses whatever information he gathers under the guise of "Journalism" to hurt other people. Judgement AFFIRMED.
