A year's subscription works out to $250L per month. That is hardly an outrageous price. I repeat PEOPLE PAY $5000L FOR A COPY OF A FREAKING TEXTURE. This device is incredibly useful - by raging about the price, you are basically saying their efforts are not worthwhile.
No no. The beginning of the post was a setup for the end of the post, which was a joke. As you know, Francis created the wonderful Animation Override script which became a free/low-cost alternative to a much more expensive proprietary version.

*sigh* I hate explaining my comedy. ;)

Someone gave me one of these, but I havent used it and I highly doubt that I will. It reminds me of the in world 'cellphones for chatting' Why pay for something that is already provided by SL? I know that teleporting has sucked on occasion...but 99% of the time it really isn't an issue for me. Plus I can do without the additional lag that these things give. I just don't find it very feasible, for me. Not saying it is a bad product, just not something I will need.

After playing with one for a few hours last night I found it quite useful. I won't be using it for a TP replacement but I do do a lot of flying around and for this it rocks.

As an amusing side effect, on the few times it has aborted during a trip, I have been dumped at some of the coolest (ok...not a real word...shoot me) builds I have seen in a while.

The price may be a bit high but I'm going to keep it. :)

I just want to remind everyone that we still are in beta mode, and we're working really hard to address the feedback we've been getting and to improve the overall system before official release.

Heh, it's a bit of a blessing and a curse to have all of this interest happen while you're still in testing. Either way, congrats! Buzz is a good thing. :)

Furthermore, as Second Life goes to the Metaverse, and this becomes an open platform, Linden Lab risks lawsuit in court and [attachment culling] will, I repeat WILL be reverse in court.

I think its nifty - and I can see how it would be very helpful to some folks - say people with multiple vendors and shop properties all over the world... having to get from point a to b all the time..

I'm just not one of those people.. There are only 2 places in SL I absolutely MUST get to at any given time.. one is set to home, and the other is private island - so pretty much 'point to point' for those.

90% of the rest of my time can be broken down into 2 other cases:

1. Someone sends me a tp.
2. I decide it would be cool to go over to xxxx - and I literally jump and run across the rooftops, mountains, hills of SecondLife with my superjumper.. its fun, relaxing, and I get to see a hell of a lot of stuff.

So really - only 10% of the time I need to get from point a to b would I even need ROAM... So I don't know..

For me, nice gadget - cool, but it wouldn't get much use on me.

Siggy

I know :) I got the joke, I was just making a general statement about it, since there is a flurry of OMG IT"S SO EXPENSIVE! posts.

I understand your humor, I just like to take a whack at ya anyway ;)
