Your wish is my command, residents.

I have implemented "mute on minimize" as an option. It will ship in 1.6.3. It also now works correctly with QuickTime streams (which are not muted with the current scheme).

Look for the option in Preferences in 1.6.3.

Thanks, James. This is indeed good news.

But I have another request. There are at least 3 other threads on this subject (I know .. duplicative threads, who knew) that have no Linden response. One in Hotline and two in the 1.6 tech thread, where one would actually expect to find this discussion.

So while everyone here is celebrating ... there are people in other forums who are not. (Thanks Torley for the cross-reference post in at least one of them.)

To all Lindens: If you want us to use specific forums for specific things .. then set a good example by /answering/ in the appropriate forums.

I know people that stay out of the General Forum because, to quote at least one of them: "Its scary".

So, I really do appreciate the quick response and the quick fix coming in the next patch, even if it does sound like Im nit-picking on /where/ you posted your reply. :)

Thanks

Thank you, James! I use SL as a media player while I'm Photoshopping textures, so it'll be great to have my tunes back. On the more practical side, I use an attachment to write hovertext over my head when I'm working outside of SL, something to the effect of "Photoshopping; IM me to get my attention". Not being able to hear that little dingaling makes me more anti-social than usual. :)
