This is a bad feature to not make optional. I am usually using 3rd party programs to create content while I am using SL. I use the sound to be able to tell when someone is talking to me (typing sound) so I can switch back to SL to check who is there and what was said. I also like to listen to the stream while I am working.
Please make this an option, instead of default.

As I've been able to get into SL since 1.6.2 I can tell you it not only mutes the audio on minimize, but also if you bring another app up in front of it on the PC.

I do the same thing Cua. I rely on being able to hear what's going on around me in SL when I'm working in Photoshop. This is going to make life considerably more difficult.

I noticed this too although I didn't catch what it meant in the release notes, actually going through it, even at a low volume, was disconcerting for me. I'd prefer to have this as an option too, please.

I am awful about multitasking. I am starting to think I may be developing a case of AADD as I get older.  I just can't stay in SL without doing other things as well.. LOL I NEED NEED NEED NEED to hear what is going on in my program of choice. The sudden start and stop of sound as I switch between SL and Yahoo is annoying. When I know I need the silence while doing something else, I just click the stop button. Again, give US the power of choice... lol Edit (Additional Thought): I just pulled the SL window back up after posting this and realized just how awful this is. I had SL up as the main focus.. and simply clicked down on the windows toolbar and the sound stopped. I didn't even bring another window up. I simply clicked on the lil arrow down there to expand the toolbar... and poof.. silence. |

version 1.6 2 doestn work font is no more

The fonts dont work in version 1.6 2 how are we suppose to talk i left a bug report but the font was in some sort of code or scribble. no english folks cant read anything.

Is this something that cropped up since Tuesday? Cuz I didn't notice when I was DJ'ing on Tues night for about 3 hours... granted I don't minimize my SL window, BUT I am constantly alt-tabbing or taskbar switching from one program to another over top of my maximized SL window and I didn't have any audio cut out. Maybe it's just me???

 not the good FUNK ether. Some really bad crap infact. Yeah while i am telling you this, i have no clue whats going on SL cause my audio is muted *no option to turn off this* Once again labled new feature. IMO its a bug. Luckily Jack Linden was around to show me where to give the ole thumbs down *once again* as he could not personally take charge and fix anything. As he is a liason, not a programmer. but i do thank you for trying your best to find something for me.I think this one was a no brainer of needing to be optional. Wich tells me you guys need a *goto* man inbetween of people who actually play the game in world. Know what features make it good or bad, and wich ones they seen it go ether way and thought it should be optional. Obviously this didn't happen. Because had that went down. In game liasons would have said woah, hold on, this is what i have seen. and none of us would need to be here ranting and raving. Internal restructuring might be the answer.... Thanks Steve Fox |

James Linden developer to the stars I also multitask a great deal, and I totally rely on audio cues from programs running in the backtground to alert me of messages in SL, incoming email, AIM, and even IRC. James, THANK YOU for doing this. This will greatly help people who like to run SL and other programs at the same time. _____________________
