Maybe I need to dress up as a Raven and stand around the WA? Now that Mirra Hathor has sold me a raven to wear on my shoulder, I think I'll try roaming the WA and have a notecard of latest listings in the bird. Shouldn't ruffle any feathers that way HAR HAR.

why not trying a vulture LOL

sorry that vehicles inspire fun and creativity to me
sorry that land business isnt inspiring me anything... at least anything good

well no offense, i am just stating why it wouldnt work

I think someone had to come along and challenge your privileges *shrugs*.

You have the same priveledges everyone else does. If you don't want to make nice things, then don't. If you want to but can't... go take some classes. But stop whinning about others when they do. People like Cubey get recognition because he works his ass off and makes things that people like. This isn't the result of priveldge. Ask him how many hours he's spent making things to sell. And then making marketing material for it in photoshop or illustrator. People love that! People love vehicles! They don't care about land for rent! If you want more attention, come up with something people will like! Presumably you live in a capitalist society, you should know how it works. Why do you seem to think everyone should be wipping your ass? Baby.

Your claim to fame is being the hugest whiner in all of SL. Hey that's something to be proud of! Can't say you're not famous! I want that priveledge!

Edit to add: I'm surprised you haven't been perma banned yet. Who are you going to attack (aka report on, challenge, push back against) next?

Um, what about the poor people with no talent, Ingrid? Why does everybody have to take classes? I don't want to take classes LOL.

Ingrid, if you had a way to give free furniture in the WA and have a chair hovering over the welcome area with a notecard, you'd be selling more. So you ought to be questioning this "market share," too.

Why would you falsely appose "vehicles" and "land for rent"? They are different sectors. I appreciate that Cubey works hard and achieves something and gets the recognition merited. What I question is all the feting and the free advertising and the access to the WA. That's been the narrow issue I've focused on through here all along. I think the Lindens need to be aware as the world grows that they have to stop the feting and the endorsing and the funnelling of ideas to the media when they place stories, and try to pluralize it more. Otherwise their world won't grow and become something that people can say "our world" about. You've apprenticed yourself to the FIC in the guild wars, Ingrid, so you don't feel any of this.

Your scorn for the land business is like a lot of people in the content business, though you own grouped land yourself and you even used to rent land for your shop. So your scorn is coming to the wrong address.

Well, I do have a vocabulary "as big as a planet" according to Eggy and he should know. I'm also able to spell "privilege".

Well, keep pushing that little red button Ingrid, see if you can drive someone off the forums, eh? It's a great world to live in...until someone begins to push the little red button on YOU!

A round of applause for Prok. He doesn't make typos. But he can't fly.

If you are too lazy to learn, then you don't deserve recognition. If you just don't *want* to learn, well then you have no room to bitch about those who do and turn that knowledge into something successful.

Um, I'm busy night and day learning OTHER STUFF Pendari, like the land business, how to parcel, price, market, revise, reformat, and a hundred other things involved in my own selected services business of rentals.

It's not a question of "laziness" because I do take the time to learn enough about building, scripting, avatar clothes etc to run my business and help others sell their content, too.

So your nasty notions of laziness have come to the wrong address.

What you're unwilling to realize is that not everyone wants to live in the crafts guild medieval economy that you've helped to establish.

"I refuse to put in any effort, but I still deserve as much as one of the most hard-working folks in the (virtual) world!"

Very pro-buisness there, Prok.

What's the line... Oh yes.

I put in effort at DIFFERENT STUFF, Reitsu, try to grasp that the world is LARGER than just the feted few content kings and queens.

You're all barking up the wrong tree there with your critiques.

I raise the issue of "what about the people with no talent" as a reminder to the content-barons that they need to think about their CUSTOMERS and how they will be sustained in this world so they can GO ON BUYING CONTENT.

Everybody wants to think all the time about MAKING STUFF, like David Linden who basically says "we need to have more people who make stuff".

But we need people to BUY STUFF too. Now, where are they going to get the money? Just from GOM? Why should they just become mindless shopper drones? They'd like a little more existence than that. So this discussion should also be about branding of things that are harder to brand than just kewl vehicles you can swoop into the WA with.

Cubey has a different market.

Try to grasp that he markets differently as a result.

The world is larger than just the land rental buisness.

While it would be in, say, Piper's best interests that I could afford to buy myself a brand-spanking new Merridian, they have no obligation to actually care that I can or can not. For the record, I can't, as much as I would love one.

To take this back to Cubey (Since you seem to have some vendetta against him at the moment), Cubey HAS gone out of his way to try to help other people. He gives away free scripts, holds building contests, helps people out on a personal level... But wait. Months back, you were attacking him for that, because its all a ploy to drag newbies into his web.

The amount of credit you give people is insulting,t o say the least, Prok.

What's wrong with being a "mindless shopper drone"? Honestly, you're the biggest snob. Did it ever occur to you that some people might actually like logging in and just chatting?

He said his efforts will be directed at acquiring more content creators until the end of the year. You need a ton of content creators in world to accomodate all the potential players who don't want to make things when they start targeting a broader audience in 2006.

So rather than open up the game to hordes of people who play Tringo in vain to save for their prim dicks and megavehicles, why not just close the game and only take resumes from content creators with proven RL job skills? That might be less frustrating for them and for the Tringoistas.

Honestly, I wonder how they think people can exist to buy all this stuff.

Prokofy, Leave Cubey alone.

Anytime you'd like to increase your knowledge of Second Life and perhaps wake up to realise that not everyone is like you, there's teams of educators across Second Life that donate time and effort to run classes. You can sit in on any of these classes at no cost to you.

Should you be unable to find a class time that suits you, I will be happy to take you in personally for the 'Forum Abusers Rehabilitation Program' and 'Forum Use 101, Do's and Don'ts.'

There are also classes on 'Scripting for the mentally challenged' and 'SL Law 101, a beginners guide' Should you decide to further your studies.

This is so sad. I was really looking forward to this thread taking off. I think it opened with a discussion of some of the most interesting challenges and successes SL business can face.

Instead, laid bare for all to see, is the puerile jealousy of one small person. Instead of discussion, we get to watch the flailings of one person's insecurity, the inner workings of their self-disappointment. We get to watch a good man dragged down not because he is bad, but because his successes have earned him the respect and admiration of his community.

Is this what we deserve and expect of our community? Six months ago I would have stared in stunned awe at the slime being emptied, with impunity, upon some of the most productive and impressive individuals our community has to offer. Today it is taken for granted that such will occur.

We deserve better. We're not getting it.

Please refrain from personally attacking someone you don't agree with in the forums. These forums are for discussion and education about Second Life, and there is no need to attack those you don't agree with. I am leaving this thread open as there remains some room for productive discussion. *crosses fingers* Should personal attacks continue, this thread will be closed.

Squag, the short yellow bus is coming to pick me up now, and you know, we at the Head Wound Victims of America have *such* important work to do in making and stuffing those special envelope labels with YOUR name on it. I want to make sure I spell yours correctly, and I need to ask: do you want the little rose, or the kitty or the Happy Face?
