I think we should imprison Marcus Forsetti.

If the proposal includes a sim called Zihuatanejo, then I am all for it.

Think of the market this will open up for prison related products! Prison sex balls! Conjugal visit trailers! This can only be a good thing for the economy.

. . . Not to mention skins to make everyone Big Lance.

I don't really like the idea, but I'm really excited to see some prison tattoos.

1. Create a few island sims (the number depends on our incarceration needs). They will allow building, scripting, and socializing with the same rules as the main grid.
2. The convicted would not be able to leave these sims until their sentence has been served.
3. The non-convicted CAN VISIT and LEAVE this grid at any time. This is important because we do not want to encourage poor behavior on the part of users who purposely TRY to get into the prison grid.

This is my thinking as well. If people are still able to play, but only in a limited area, they might develop some sense of getting along with others in order to return to the mainland. I don't see any value in putting them in little cells. But I do think that allowing them to roam the prison islands and build, especially with visits from free residents, might entice some to reform their attitude enough to fit into the broad population of The Grid All Hail The Central Grid.

Either that, or they'll teach each other bigger, better griefing skills.

Kind of like, uh, priests?

Actually, for awhile now I've been thinking it would be fun to build Hell per Dante's Inferno here in SL. This would be perfect for that.

KK. Now I am thinking Eigth Circle of Hell Ditch #9 for the "Sowers of Discord" who get ripped apart and who heal only to get ripped apart again.

But, I still think the whole thing should be PG. :D

So let me get this straight...

In order to make sure that the person who got suspended is innocent, that person will be given a second chance in a locked-down prison area along with many other people who are probebly not innocent, and got there for a good reason? Doesnt sound like a charming idea to me.

I am pretty certain that putting up a "prison" will actually encourage a higher level of griefing activity. People will view it as "part of the game". SL Mafias will suddenly have a meaning beyond packing push weapons and attaching alot of particle bling.

This is pretty stupid. We dont need a prison sim - we need moderators with a less itchy trigger finger. We could use more warnings and suspensions then insta-bans. And we could also use the ability of knowing what we got suspended/banned -for-, while at it.

I really dont think prisons are going to do any good in the long term. It may look "cool" now, but it will later become yet another stupid idea like the telehubs are today, and pay-per-teleport and prim taxs were back then.

There already is an Oz in SL

What about the Echo Omega's?! Those that can not be tammed?! I think we should get together a special police force with teleporter systems, one hot red head and one whiney bratty blonde kid who gets into trouble, to track down Echo Omega!

Honestly, a "Prison" is just a bad idea IMO. There are several reasons that I don't want to go into because I feel like I have before, so if you really want to know, go diging with the search function. But yeah, bad idea.

Besides, isn't that what Sandbox Island is for? All the griefers seem to go there anyway. :p

This seems like a gigantic waste of time and resources, not to mention a bad idea. It would provide griefers with a much easier way of getting to know one another, and sharing knowledge.

Allowing non-convicts to visit would be an especially bad mistake. Think of the visitors who would be going there - just to mess with someone who is unable to get away. It happened in real life when chain gangs were the preferred method of punishment in France; the idle rich would show up and jeer the convicts and pelt them with rotten fruit. It brought out the worst kind of behavior in the free.

You want to do this right? Give them solitary. They get a sentence of, say, three days, or whatever is merited. They log in and find themselves in an empty environment. Other than their avatar, the screen is totally black. No building, no scripts, no IMs, no map, not even the ability to move. It would be like a sensory deprivation chamber. The only thing would be a counter indicating how many days/hours/minutes remained before they were out. You wouldn't even need a sim for it, it would be 100% client-side.

I fully support this product and/or service. :D

Isn't that just how people are? They're all for law and order, but when it comes down to the details, no one wants a prison next to their build.

but hey, y'know... i dunno... in some sense, yeah, it's been done elsewhere, so why not give it a try? (c'mon, we're not talking like this is RL! imho...:)

what if the one accused gets a jury by their prims - er, peers? conduct the 'trial' here in the forums, where it could be maybe a bit more 'controlled' (oh, some may really jump on me for saying that...:)

but that could be crazy fun too in sl, sim-trials... unless there's attention to 'security concerns', imagine some gang breakin' out their boss! just like an action flick heheh...

in any case, i personally wonder if this prison 'rumor' (is there any concrete announcement, eh? please link:) is justa buncha hucka. but if it did happen, but it was eventually decided that the 'prison system' is really of no use, and is dismantled, there could be a rockin' fireworks party, like the end of prohibition. :)
