Have a third party come in as witness to the contract, with both people in it agreeing the chatlog is public record. well hello: i myself have been victimized by altered chat logs. a valid chat log can be produced indicating you agreed to pay me 5000L a week for life. it's a virtual landscape and everything is changeable. any written in world document tends to be suspect in my mind just due to prior experience. so...i want u to start paying me on thursdays. marilyn

Timmy Night: It is quite nice to read something on these forums where it seem the person actually "gets it".
Most don't understand what you wrote and will sit at their computers scratching their heads...

marilyn I did mention witnesses, right? And anything can be forged, it's a fact of life. No safety or scurity system is foolproof. I should know!

From: Foolish Frost I did mention witnesses, right? And anything can be forged, it's a fact of life. What would witnesses do in a dispute? Other than identify who might be wrong and who might be right? What would happen at that point? Are you discussing a process whereby any dispute would be directly taken into the RL legal or arbitration system? Whose? U.S.? U.K.? Any? Or are you proposing an "inworld" judicial system with enforcement? Or?

Said witnesses would be easy to get. "Hey Linda hun I have this scam to get 20k out of Foolish Frost, all you have to do is tell the Lindin's you saw him agree to this deal" *wink wink nudge nudge* Let alone said scammer could use their own alts to be their own witnesses on another computer.
