-??? (anything else?)

Also, how many prims do we have to work with?

A 4096m2 lot has a prim allocation of about 936, so presumably the build has to be less than this. Plus, LL will add things after the build is done. These prims will also count against the lot's allocation.

So, what would be a good target number for the maximum number of prims we could put in the build?

That's a really good question. But I wonder if any figure we're given should be taken as more of a guideline. I mean, LL can presumably twiddle a magic knob like they did for the city sims and up the prim allocation if they like what they're getting for it. No?

My build is less than 400 prims. I have charged the normal commercial rate which works out at about 5000 lindens. Two days is plenty of time to build something like this, stop complaining! I had the draft done in two hours.

We can all find jobs which speak to our strengths. If you don't build fast and need two weeks to texture, then obviously this isn't the job for you. On the other hand, if someone wanted painstaking texturing, with every prim perfectly snapped into place, they wouldn't ask me to do it. I am an artistic builder, and I think the fact that every prim isn't snapped into place by number gives my builds their own character.

I can build fast, but can I build cool? Have to see :-).

Is the idea of the area to be a 3d panthlet?
Will there be job fairs?
Will the lindon staff need an area to conduct interviews? if so, how many people would usually be involved in an interview?

Well, I sent in my build-bid last night. Who else dropped a note to Pathfinder?

Can a group submit a bid? Say a few of my buddies and me would like to do it as a group, could we do that? Thanks, I hope it works out for whoever gets it!

What is the current meaning of cool? Are you aiming at twenty-somethings or older people keen to revive their gaming souls? You can have a really functional build of mine for nothing - put one together in an hour. Whether it fits the definition of 'cool' is another matter.

Going to be interesting to build a substantial gathering space yet intimate interview space between the Linden-owned "Delphic Circle" on the hill and the L-shaped coast line a couple dozen meters down the slope - without blocking the waterway or violating the contours and colors of the land and water.

I can only think of a handful of people I've seen who have done something like that.

Woot!

I have to apply for this one! A unique build in two days? I'm all over this one.

4000 meters equals about 1000 prims, so about 300-500 prims for the build...

I can do this in two days.

Anyway, may the best builder for the job win!

On a side note, 2 days does seem a bit short... Perhaps it's a stress test of some kind?

These folks could do it in ONE day. We could all learn something from their carefully planned and executed techniques.

Is this cost plus or are budget overruns built into the bidding process? :)

I'm sorry about the short time period on this.

We simply need this inworld Recruiting Center set up as quickly as possible. Like...yesterday. :P

We could have waited a couple weeks for bids...then given people a couple weeks to build the final location. But it's simply more important for us to have *something* set up very soon.

Thanks for the opportunity, Pathfinder!

I sent you my notecard/proposal this morning.

I sent in my proposal tonight. No matter who is selected, I hope Pathfinder will put all the proposals on display somewhere for a while. Real architectural competitions generally do this. Here, it would just be fun to see what everyone came up with at this feverish pace.

Agreed, it will be interesting to see how they make their choice.

Today's the day!

Shall we take bets on what time today they will post the winner of the bid? I'm thinking toward evening SL time, or about 3-6 PM?

I made my bid aswell last night.
Haven't saved a pic to disk, so can't show you.
Maybe we should start a thread for the pics in the build or gallery section.

Wow....

Great submissions by everyone! (we got 19 bids total). Thank you so much!

A group of 7 Lindens reviewed all the bids this afternoon. Each build was rated on a scale of 1-5. Winning bid determined by the most points.

Only one problem.

WE HAD A TIE.

So...we waited for Philip to check the two out. Final decision was his.

And the winning bid has gone to:

splat1 Edison/Oz Spade/Adam Zaius

CONGRATULATIONS!

To everyone who submitted a bid, THANK YOU! All the entries were carefully reviewed, and we realize that you all put a LOT of work into this.

We hope to have future bids like this for other builds in SL to give all Residents more opportunities like this.

Some Residents who submitted bids may wish to remain anonymous or keep the projects they submitted private, so out of respect for that I will not list everyone who made submissions. I will leave it up to them to share their builds with the general community if they so wish.

Thank you all again. Take care,
-Pathfinder
