LOL I loved the dust baths!! Marvin would do a series of crazy rolls then jump out and stare at me until I put my hand in the dust bowl and wiggled it about, then he'd jump in and out, and wait for me to take my turn again. :D

I have two kittens. They're both five months old and are the sweetest little things you'll ever see. I don't see them much but I'm asking someone back home to take a picture of them and I'll post it when I get the picture.

Selador and Misnomer,

I think that is the proper environment for bettas as Upshaw mentioned before. I forgot where I read that those little fishes actually live in very muddy ponds and have a special respiratory system adapted for such conditions. Misnomer, since your fish lived longer I'll double check on the most suitable environment for Jack. Maybe your fish was a bit older than the others when you got it. This is my second betta and I got him and the previous one when they were only half their adult size; I enjoy watching them grow.

What happened to Jackie, my first betta? It's a sad story. . .I made the mistake of putting him for one day in bigger tank with goldfish (yes, I know, don't mention it, this was a very stupid mistake). Then the goldfish started eating away at his big, long fins. I took Jackie out when I noticed this but it was too late--Jackie died hours later.

Pepper,

You will find lots of information on Bettas on the web. Just try a search in Google.

He who runneth our home...
03-29-2004 06:23
We are just permitted to live here as long as we remain in his good graces...

May I present KC who runs our heart and home...
He who has 2 (or 3 if the kid is home) in service
He who we ADORE since we "dopted" him
He who is deaf now, drools (goobers) unmercilessly, & who owns the banana concession here...

He who my husband (and I am NOT kidding) has a Pop Art type painting of hanging over the dining room table. (of them KISSING no less)

Are we NUTS or what??? and we wouldn't have it ANY other way

Ok I finally got a picture of my two cats :)

The one with the white feet is named Boots and the one with the funny eye is Shana. They were both born in October somewhere in southern Illinois and were abandoned as kittens but we rescued them and they adopted us :p

A big tank will probably kill a beta. In the wild, Betas live in puddle-like conditions and if the puddle gets too big, they will flip to one that is smaller. You wonder why pet stores sell them in cups? They aren't cruel, this is the way it is.

Giving them too much area will kill a beta so please dont do this.

They dont *Need* a filter, their water cannot be heated and they drink out of the surface of the water.

I've 'worked' with betas for 4 years... believe me ;)

In Pepper's defence.. he is doing a fine job as a parent.
