How old do you need to be to be considered an SL old timer? |

How long does someone have to be in game to be considered an SL old timer? I've been here since February- and have seen lots of changes. But someone who's been here twice as long (or into beta days) has seen way more. I guess the question is kinda subjective, but when you think of a longtime player, how long have they been playing?

I think of any player that started before me as an old-timer.

Good question Olympia.
I started in Feb also and feel the same as Camille, that anyone who started before me would be in the "old timer" catagory. I guess it's all a matter of perspective, and that makes Camille an Old Timer to you and I. I have had a few very respected long time players tell me that they catagorize me as an SL Senior. To anyone that has started in the last couple of months, you and I would be considered old timers. I don't feel comfortable with that though, I wouldn't put myself into a catagory with the people that have been here longer than me. They are the ones that have really shaped SL, and I have a great deal of respect for them. The term "Old Timer" is something they should be very proud of. ![]() |

I use old timer here partially because Ive been here since beta (and still there are older people than me here!) and partially because I have said things that make me sound like an "old timer"
(waves cane around) "Back when I started all we had to work with were black wire meshes. You had to upload one design 50 times just to get it right" _____________________

I tend to agree with Misnomer. Anyone that started in Beta. I might even stretch it to pre 1.2, including everyone that experienced taxes and the prim hog era.

My leather pants are from beta.
![]() I can count on my hands and feet how many time's I've taken them off. ![]() These pants survived the "pixelated crotch smudge" fiasco. These pants survived the prim whore wars. These pants survived taxation without representation. ![]() Someone said they were dusty the other day. I just said the pants were filled with history. ![]() _____________________

"From 1.0", and I remember many of these things - paying for teleports, paying to rez prims, taxes that were random and didn't work...
...But I don't think anyone considers me an 'old timer'. I remember 1.1 gave me huge distorto-arms and put the GUI on my face... Seems like if you're pre-1.2, but not Beta, you're kinda stuck in limbo. Though I guess that may not be the case say, five years from now, if the place is still around. |

I think those of us who deal with SL old timers regularly age at twice the rate.

*sighs*
See, this is the difference between men and women. Men see dust and *whoom* out comes the vacuum. It may not be the right tool for those pesky dust balls -- but it'll do the job. ![]() Women, on the other hand, find the feather duster, and just... ![]() _____________________

Just thank the lord we don't have Furry's over every night. Then you'd be telling me that you have a hair in your throat.

The hairs I've picked out of my throat lately are wild, gray, Beta...and dusty.

I think of pre-1.2 people as the old-timers, because so much seemed to change with 1.2.
I, myself, started just a few days after 1.2, after lurking around the forums for months. Mostly, I decided to start then because I could pay my 9.95, and try it out as long as I liked. Of course, I bought land 4 days later, so that was *real* useful. ![]() Of course, I've now been around for 10 months, and I'm still a newbie... so you never know. ![]() --Carolyn (Newbie Auntie) _____________________

I remember being able to teleport anywhere but having to pay for it. I also remember my wonder and amazement at being able to be something other than what I am in real life. I still love that feeling. _____________________
