Why aren't you using refer-a-friend in all your email signatures?

If someone signs up you get 4$ USD worth of l$ and 8$ worth of l$ from your URL if they sign up for a basic / premium account respectively.

So, here's my question - you think SL is cool so why not evangalize and make some L$ at the same time?

And if you think making money is tacky, why not just put it in your signature as secondlife.com?

Who needs a job when it's so easy to get rich?

If you're getting rich off of spamming your referral link then I am Peter Pan :)

Yeah, nothing pisses people off like more spam. I tried posting some screenshots with the referal link to a newsgroup I frequent and was accused of everything from spamming to assasinating President Lincoln. Besides, I'm in the Fortune 100 so it's not like I need the cash.

Ok, you got me here.

What logic system did you use to conclude that I was getting rich off of spamming my referral link?

a) At what point did I say I was using my referral link
b) At what point did I say I was spamming
c) At what point did I say I was making money off of the referral link
d) At what point did I say I was getting rich off of the referral link

My point was merely: you do not need a job to make money.

In fact, it is pretty unlikely you (the royal you, not you in particular eggy) will get rich with a job, not at the wages you're going to make.

The other point was that when you did send out emails, why don't you have a link to secondlife? You'll also notice that I said you don't need to include the referral link if you feel that is tacky.

You jump to this completely random conclusion about a merely innocent question I posed ... and I need the cup of tea?

I need a cup of tea, thanks. Lady Grey would do very nicely on this warm day. Erm, I shan't add a referral link to my signature as it's a little bit spammy - maybe egg sausage and spam - and I haven't got a signature anyway.

I use a link to Second Life in my personal email signature, Blaze. Not necessarily for the lindens (although that is nice :p ), but because I am always talking about SL to my friends and this will at least give them a reminder to check it out for themselves. I would love it if more of my friends were in Second Life and a lot of them are wacky enough to fit in well. I just have to pry them away from the TV for a bit. (Anybody remember the television, pretty decent graphics, but the content is very prim heavy.) :D

My friends already think I'm nuts. ;)

I was more vocal about SL and why it was worth trying out in my early days, but it was interpreted as if I was trying to recruit everyone into some kind of wacky cult. That's one of the reasons I ended up starting a blog- so I could babble about how interesting/fun/weird SL was without forcing anyone to listen.

I hate those conversations where I ask friends I encouraged to join SL why I never see them here anymore and they talk about the technical problems they can't get answers on and their dissatisfaction with customer service and then try to get me to come to the site where they hang out now instead of SL. I've stopped evangelizing. Still hanging in myself, though, and hoping things will get better soon.

I don't put advertising in my emails to friends, that would be the reason - and I am certainly not going to spam business associates with it. Those friends who I have wanted in SL have joined or been bombarded with pictures from it many times :)

Yeah, likewise.

SL if nifty, but lots of things are nifty. I also don't add links to other programs/games/websites in my signature, either. My emails are not Adware. If I think a friend or associate will appreciate SL, I'll tell them about it and offer them the URL.

It sounds like he is asking why it isnt our signature here, on the forums.

I have a website now dedicated to recruiting newbies that I bought a URL for and pay hosting fees for.

I do not spam my emails, people get enough of that.

My thoughts exactly. Besides I'm in mid-job hunt. I can see the SL link going out with my resume.

Hobbies: digital adult clothes and animations
