From: Billy Grace Two words... cashiers check! Ha! I went to the bank to get a cashier's check Friday and was told that I would have to deposit the cash I had brought into my account and then write a check. I told the teller that this was such agravating bullshit to pull on a good customer that I was going to close my account right then and there. The teller summoned over a manager, who informed me that it was a new Federal regulation to help the war on terror. It is going to be pretty damned hard to hide money if we let them think up too many more regulations.

From: Rose Karuna If they had found drugs in her possession I'd agree. If as part of an investigation, they had followed her because they were suspicious of the 47K, and then witnessed a drug transaction, I'd agree. -snip- The concept of the presumption of innocence is one of the most basic in our system of justice. -snip- Seizure of property (in this case $47,000) without what amounts to even a valid accusation is simply the government selectively taking what they want from it's citizens. No more, no less. . Exactly my thoughts. There are people that do not trust banks. If the money is yours, you should be able to carry it. Let's face it, $47,000 isn't alot of money if you just had one good real estate transaction. Maybe she was going to Tijuana to get expensive male escorts and 'ludes for a month after her surgery. Not really anyone's business. I have traveled with over $10,000. I did not realize having my own money in my pocket was a crime. Had she been robbed by "standard" criminals because of a poor choice of placement of the cash, then I agree she should assume some responsibility. That was not the case. She consented to a search from our government, and they stole her money. I can not understand how anyone, from reading that article, can place one ounce of blame on the victim. If anyone get's any follow up links on this story please pass them along.

As an aside, I think you have to wear a bra to understand about putting money in them. (And ladies, shhh! This is a closely-guarded gender secret.) coco
