Just wanted to create a thread I can bump in six months :)

Population: 70K

Max concurrent users: 3000

Sims: 1200

Gom price: 4 USD $ / 1000 l$

Zoning functionality on the mainland and the island rental business model will be ruined, however grandfather clauses will exist for current island owners.

Could you do me a favor and elaborate on this part of your post? Why do you think that zoning and the island rental business will be ruined? You have mentioned it a couple of times now, and I was wondering why you thought this way. Personally have never gotten the impression from LL that they want to ruin the rental business, in fact I got just the opposite vibe from them.

Same..
With people rushing it islands, selling mainland property was a bear, and you would end up releasing land or selling it for almost nothing.... certainly far below what you paid anyhow. These changes look like they're bring people back to buying land on the mainland, as well as those who want to make themed Sims still doing so..

By December 31, 2005, I predict the following:

Population: 76,348

Max concurrent players: 4,120

Sims: 1521

1$ = 265 L$

We will have a half-functioning in-game browsers, peopel in the same will be sued directly for bran infringement, etc, etc.

And I'll be leading a band of roving sky pirates and spelunkers about the grid in search of booty.

I predict that at the end of the year, due to the integration of the Mono framework will dramatically increase the want to do incredibly complex things with scripts. Currently, due to the language's speed, many things simply get labeled as "not feasable, LSL too slow" even before the first working prototype is made.

Also, the implementation of Havok 2 (and the physics engine interface) will help bring about an era where the majority use a vehicle to move across large distances.

That would be nice. Let's see some better border issues, too

I predict havok 2, while in of itself well implemented, when it comes to merging with the main code base it will be yet another typical integration nightmare

Havoc 2 will be quickly supplanted by Havoc 2.0.1 after an exploit that allows people to play Katamari Demacy with other people's objects.

In The Year Two-Thousand... In the Two-ThousAND!!!!!
*Burke is looking not like Conan O'Brien with the predictive neck gauntlet in low lighting*

The new rendering system will cause everyine to upgrade their computers to brand-new $500 video cards that require liquid nitrogen cooling systems and draw more power than some city blocks, but still get poor framerates in dance clubs.

In The Year Two-Thousand... In the Two-ThousAND!!!!!

Anshe Chung, in a napolean style grab for power, buys SL in it's entirety and turns it into AnsheLand, and has other land barons summarily executed on a 10,000 prim guillotine.

In The Year Two-Thousand... In the Two-ThousAND!!!!!

Bling will now be considered it's own prim type, and will be summarily taxed upon each rezzing. LL will be able to afford new asset servers when it cashes out the proceeds on GOM, which is now a leading member of the NYSE and World Trading Market.

I'm curious to see Blaze's answer to this as well. Simply because I have no idea why this would be stated and I"m curious why someone would say as much.

I got the exact opposite vibe from LL as well when they announced it. I thought " Ding! Rental and Land leases/apartment building will sky rocket with this idea.

Hahahah Burke, I was taking a drink, now I am draining my keyboard... er was, Im typing now...

Where will SL be... I imagine not too much different from now, but the population average seems to be headed into a more average direction as far as quality... Kitchens and bathrooms will be mandatory in every build or else you face the bling shunning, an act similar to clockwork orange conditioning.

I can see 70-80 population pretty easy (more like 30k to 50k once you exclude alts) =P

Patching to havok 2.0 will cause bugs, we will need to roll back to an early beta of havok 1.0

Anshe will own more land, but it will be the same % she owns now... SL will just have more land overall...

The attempt at adding the new "tattoo layer" will result in a bug that causes pants to not render. Skirt sales will skyrocket, manly men seek alternatives such as particle pants...

starving noobs lurk outside Cubey's place hoping to car jack you so they can afford the kitchen that has the working paper towel rack.

Bling particle rendering gets it's own on/off toggle switch in 1.7.1

Expired accounts are mysteriously reactivated and wander the mainland in a futile search for brains. Weapon sales skyrocket.

the 2m L$ posted in early July is still for sale at 3.93 per block

Blaze's postcount is represented in hexidecimal.

a. I should clarify .. there will be zoning functionality on the mainland (so you don't need to own a whole sim, you can just control a sim).

b. The island rental business model will be ruined, however grandfather clauses will exist for current island owners.

For b, we're already heading in that direction with the price increase of the islands. I think LL will tweak things a little bit more in hopes of slowing or stopping that.

I'm not going to go into my predictions of the exact numbers at the end of 2005...

But let's just say I have a feeling Philip will be on the phone asking me for "a place to crash for a few weeks...You know, till all the unpleasantness blows over." ;)

I predict someone will invent a new game, and it will catch on like wildfire. The oldbies will reminisce about the good ol' days of Tringo.

I predict the land market value will skyrocket after someone discovers a way to make avatars three times larger than normal, making 512 and even 1024 plots useless for their gigantic tree homes.

I predict vehicles will become ultra smooth with Havok 2, but then SL 1.9 will be a disaster and cause all vehicles to look like Ruth after crossing a sim.

There will be a strong divide between the innovators in the game, and people who just seem to, buy stuff, and are not very in-touch and or not able to ues the world's building, and coding tools.

Population? Over 70,000

The L$:US$ will increase to some degree.

Havok 2, may or may not be impletmented.

Better intercommunications and data storing methods in LSL2(3??)

I predict a total plummet in land prices after a new continent named 'Kevin Costner' is opened.

Siggy.

I furthermore predict a new script function called llRezPenis() will created, but due to a bug it will cause the rest of the script to run 12 times faster.

Unfortunately its sister function, llCreateVagina() will halt the running script for 30 minutes, and lag a sim to oblivion. This will be the cause of many headaches.

Siggy.
