I would like to report that, sadly, no matter how you think you may be able to block the behavior of this act, sounds AND textures are able to be stolen with the current LSL system. I will NOT release how to do this under ANY circumstances. Version 1.1 should solve this issue cleanly, refer to Phoenix Linden's post about it in the scripting forums.

For all you sound/texture people out there. Please protect your stuff, try not to expose things you REALLY prize, because they CAN be stolen, its possible, and it sadly.... (adjective) for a relitavely experianced scripter to do. Im not saying stop creating, im saying be careful.

There is no way to steal notecards, scripts, or any other non-sound, non-texture item with this method, and no proven way I know of. Thank you for your patience.

I remember being at D&D just before they opened and I know of two individuals who got the early and (excuse me for saying it) somewhat buggy pre-release model dog. I know that one of those individuals was out in Hawthorne with said non-locked dog, showing it to friends, so what Driftwood says is totally believeable and acceptable to me. On the other hand, I was playing around with making a little nonscripted pugdog weeks before I even knew about Darly's and Driftwood's dogs, so we really need to have some impartial party, acceptable to both sides, look into the scripting, sounds and designs of both parties before we get into finger pointing and accusations.
Maybe this would be a good case for Bob Bunderfield to arbitrate.
I know that Darly and Driftwood invested a lot in not only their dogs, but also the sales and training area, and it would just be a shame if other parties were allowed to rip their hard work that has brought so much pleasure and amusement to all who have seen their dogs.

This is how it started...I got a phone call from my business partner Darrly saying "Hey it looks like someone else is selling dogs in SL."

My response, "Cool! A little competition should be fun!"

So we logged in and went to see the "competition". Lo and behold, they were not competitors...they were more like...well..shall we say thieves?

Glad I got that off my chest. Now something needs to happen...

Competition is nice :D

But not when it takes your code, that you worked months to perfect, and your models, and sells them for their own profit, you sir, are a jackass.

Sure got quiet. Darwin, I love your patent idea by the way. Did this discussion spark that innovation?

Yes indeed. That and Nick stealing my idea and selling it.

And Ryen: I believe it was Ed McMann who said those priceless words of wisdom...

YOU ARE CORRECT, SIR!
