From: Chip Midnight I think the main problem here is that people see special interest groups and "representitive" bodies as inherantly unfair and prone to politics, solipsism, and anti-individualism. Yeah, could be, especially the anti-individualism part. I have always disliked any sort of game government that wasn't strictly for fun and role-play purposes. (In which case, I have enjoyed it!) But in this case, it isn't about trying to form a government. From my point of view, it is about what I have been about all along - making sure that every individual has equal rights, enjoys a fair process (as fair as things can be, anyway), and an equal opportunity to everything SL offers. It is a group to foster those sorts of ideals. This means, for one example, that the Lindens can't just decide to promote one business over another because they are friends with the person who owns the business. That sort of thing might have worked in beta, but it just can't work as SL grows larger. And the more SL intends to be a "real" marketplace and a "real" platform, the less that sort of thing will work. But I hear where you are coming from. (Although I will have to look up what "solipsism" means.) coco

this is just too funny. Whe I ask why the value of the GOM needs to be set so high, people told me all about stability and the need to preserve the status quo so SL can grow. Now the land baraons are out ther etrying to preserve the status quo and that is a hinderance to the growth of sl and the realization of the platform vision?
Eh. Maybe it is sort of content baron vs. land baron or however they want to style it. But hey gues who is not there in hunge numbers? Us evil consumers, who spend money on silly stuff to enhance out SL experience. This sounds to me alot like a buch of well to to SL's fighting over how to divvby up the dollars we consumers spend in the system.
More power to ya. I'm gonna play me some tringo.
