Considering the amount of abuse Lindens take on a regular basis, I'm amazed they talk to us at all outside of work. All we tend to do to them on average is whine at them when we are in trouble, yell at them when don't like something, or grovel at them when we want something.

Yes - a very good description of what happens. It has always amused me to see a single poster change from whining to grovelling almost overnight.

Until humans are living integers we can't do math equally. We've got split ends, disease, sex, and... EMOTIONS! AHHH!

Nice post, Foolish—you do Flash animation? (What you said reminds me of the Bozzetto classic, Europe vs. Italy.) Something like that should really be turned into a promo vid, even an animutation.

O, there'd be something new... we have newspapers, comic strips, and SLinema... why not FLASH ANIMATIONS? :)

I would like to add that I think foolish is right becasue I have been told (off the record) by some Lindens that this is what happens, especially in terms of day to day help.

If a Linden is on a help duty like live help or whatever, or even just flying around problem solving and a request comes up from a "nice" resident that is always polite etc. and hardly ever complains, they *do* somtimes tend to act on that one first and bend over backwards to get it right. It's only human nature.

They dont ignore the jerks, they do their job in that respect. But they are more willing to help those that already help themselves (and are known for helping others themself) than they are to respond with lighting speed to the latest complaint from avatar "complainsalot."

I know from the many many customer service jobs I have held myself that the client with the smile is going to get served a lot better and a lot faster than the one with the red face that's yelling at me. ;)

There's a logical component to it too—someone who explains themselves clearly and elucidates succinctly on the problem that needs to be solved is more likely to be understood than someone shouting and screaming in caps without so much as a comprehensible description. The "good explainer" can be helped first, that problem can be taken out of the way, and thus, onto the next.

Kinda reminds me of dealing with emergencies, stay calm, don't panic, help us help you... all that good stuff. :)

I wouldn't know about asking the Lindens for something, cause I never had a problem that I needed to talk to them about. If I had one, though, I wouldn't hesitate. I did have a series of problems trying to figure out how to sell things on SLBoutique, though, and Flipper was very patient and understanding with me about them. (Got it all figured out, too.)

Flipper is great. :)

I like the way he pushes people to saftey at sea when the engine of their boat dies too, and that laughy/clicky sound he makes when he dances on his tail in the water! That's great too.
