They're have been LOADS of threads about it, just not in general, as general is to discuss SL..

Try searching the forums for it..

LOL.. oh i do ;) but for those that dont understand other MMORPGS.. you need to dig, harvest, mine, stuff like that. Its a very solitary environment. You can play in teams.. but majority of people play by themselves. Its a nice lil escape from SL when you need one :)

OH cats out of the bag lol people know where i go when I am not here :D

I have to say I agree.

SL is NOT an MMORPG. There is a huge difference.

i've been reading about this game. It's themed and restrictive. Building is done from blueprints. It's got mining and other things i'd rather die then do.

No competition to SL there.

Yeah yeah yeah but the real question is do they have nice clothes for females? I looked at the screenshots and all I saw were the usual online RPG garbage clothes.

Beware! Project Entropia is a gambling casino scam
11-10-2005 20:09
PE is a really cool place, I know, i have been there
however, it is las vegas in a video game
you put your quarters in, but the house always wins
there is NO way to get ahead in PE unless you spend about 10K $ USD a year or so, I know I have talked to people who have 'deposited' much more then that
yes you will see globals, people 'winning the pot' but they are always the same people, and they are usually almost always the very HIGH amount depositors (those who pump tons of real life cash into the game) oh yes, my kids (who game with me even tho they are adults) and I did global once, I globaled when I took my cc off of my account (which meant I wouldnt be buying PEDs anymore) and they globaled off a newbie mob after depositing about 60$
but its rare, and the upkeep on weapons, rent on the apartment, upkeep on armor, etc will always drain your bank account. its a rigged game, and ONLY Project Entropia wins

at least in SL, for the most part, you pay your land taxes, you get to live, your bits dont wear out and if they do, javier will make you new ones ;)
heh

WHOA! *beep beep* back the reality wagon up!

I explored PE for a short time. Basically from my short experience there I percieved a rigged odds game goin on. Statisticly, the wear on your tools, armor weapons etc will cost statiscally more to repair than you will find hunting etc. Can it be done? prolly so. But since Ped's (their money) are directly tied to real cash.... do you really think the game is designed for you to take money away from it??? Consider a casino.... sure there are occasional winners. But in general the house aint goin bust :)

Asside from that, compairin PE to SL is worse than apples to oranges. They are simply two entirely different games in about every way I can think of.

SL is about unlimited freedom of creation and expression - it's a putter's dream for makin whatever you wish. A Scripters dream for puting magick into creations - bringing them to live so it were. A roleplayers dream in being about to create and "be" whatever you wish.... you name it.

PE is much more of an MMORPG with a set reality setting, skill building, the familiar grind etc. Not like those are bad things! (Hey I loved experiencing several realms of that sort).

The point is.... SL and PE are simply not compairable.

Well screw it then! I could care less about the graphics if I look like a dog. I don't know what it is these RPG makers don't get. They seem to think we all want to look like ugly Amazon warriors in thongs.

I think the comparison between SL and PE is the limitations of PE, SL is much has much more to do and in soo many different directions, PE though is a fun game also I spend more time there then in SL,

I own an apartment, and dont go stupid with deposits, yes if you pore in loads of cash you will lose it if you dont spend it wisely but can be the same as in SL with the casinos ingame, or buying junk.

The thing I do like about PE is its structure, and dynamic gameplay no i cant fly or build my own items, I have to craft, hunt, or buy them. The community like SL is great and this I believe is because of the fact that PE is a real cash economy, SL uses a 3rd part to transfer linden dollars, When I buy things in SL I dont feel like its my money as I get a stipend, being only that I have a basic account its not much and I dont own land, but I have lots of fun with the little money I have in SL, I feel when I am in there often overwhelmed by the amount of events that are happening. PE even when buying low value items you will barter over a few pec the hunting is fun and definatly when done in a team. PE is still in development with new content being added almost montlhy soon to arrive will be the nightclub, and hopefully one day riding animals, for now though taming them is all thats possible.

Graphics wise I find PE a bit better yes the avatars are not as good as SL or the abillity for the textures to be as good. In SL it can take along time for textures to res on my screen as I only have 1mb line.

I like SL and PE booth very much and can see myself playing them in years to come. Maybe one day I will upgrade my SL account and buy some land.

If you want to see the space station that was bought for $100 000 then go to www.realityport.com and download PE through there you will spawn at the asteroid or Club NEVERDIE as its called. Try it out its free to download

With the money aspects PE can really be demanding but at the same time if you treat it like a monthly deposit then you are not loosing money, in that sort of sense, in SL you pay monthly, I dont like the idea of this incase i dont play for a few months i would still have to pay. If you read the guides when starting PE you will get more bang for your buck and there is always the ability to take money out from the game.

The reason places like PE and There (same difference) pail to SL is because LL isn't out to gank every last cent form you while wasting your life away.

Granted. you can give them all of that, but it's purely optional.
And since I can't make houses or vehicles or 'stuff' in general like other places, there's no point. :D

The competition I want to know about is the potential competition mention in Ben Linden's blog.
From: Ben Linden
Secondly, the product it's self needs more work to be mainstream enough to “tip” - we need to make a more polished, easier to use Second Life, and in case competition shows up (which we think is very likely this year) we need to continue to innovate in our feature set.
What company or companies is or are the subject of this speculation? What evidence prompts this speculation? Are there any projections of what their offering would be like, and when they might appear? Etc. Etc.

It's more than 'very likely'. More like 'announced around the start of the second quarter, if not sooner'. They'll have strong backing and a very polished client frontend. It is being developed so that people with enough money and hardware can run their own small, contained mini-grids that can link back the main system. Several companies are beta-testing this as a solution. Wells Fargo might migrate, but the present required specs for the 'medium' client package or equal to that of FarCry. They are planning a lower end and specialized 'design' client, all will have catchy names.

Or.... I might be wrong. Who cares, in the end.

I paid $100 for the Half Life 2 game, patches, and sdk. Garry's Mod was free. I now have my own sim where I can build anything.
