From: Chip Midnight My last girlfriend complained that I was "too accomodating." WTF? It was because she liked to play games. I remember one time after we'd met in DC to go to a concert together we both had a bit too much to drink. Before we parted ways I asked her if she was sure she was okay to drive home and told her I'd be happy to drive her and then take her back to pick up her car in the morning. She insisted she was fine and refused the ride. Then she got really pissed off at me for not insisting. Things like that make my blood boil. I think the "you're too nice" routine is often the result of exactly that kind of game playing where women try to provoke you into asserting yourself as the authority figure. Well sorry. I flatly refuse to play that game. I'm your boyfriend, not your parent. She obviously didn't deserve you, Chip. I ended up marrying the man who was the nicest to me of anyone I'd ever dated, let alone met. I'm grateful to all the girls before me (except for his ex wife) who dumped him for being "too nice".

Not saying that you're spineless, Taco. Not saying that you're too nice either. As a matter of fact I don't know what I'm saying. I never know what I'm saying. I think I'm talking out my arse most of the time. I think sometimes I should just shut up. Like now. *shuts up*  This is the first comment here that really nails the issue. I have heard this conversation from all sides, and most often it's someone's way of saying you're too spineless (just general here, not saying anything about you Taco). That being said, I also agree with Chip about the games. I've had that same situation many times. I'll say let's do this, or let me give you a ride home and get a "no" response. If it's not that big an issue to me, I'm not gonna argue over it just for the sake of having my way. There are certain issues I will stand up on, but why does everything have to be a game. |

All the stupid little games, like he dosen't love her unless he's jealous of other men or acting is like her daddy and protecting her from the big bad world. Reality IS: Sometimes YOU my dear lady, will have to protect him and sometimes he will have to protect you. In real relationships, you are partners and the protection shield gets passed back and forth if it's the real deal. You are not a little princess in a tower. Grrrr... just a pet peeve of mine. In any case I think Siobhan hit the nail on the head when he said that there should be a book for guys like " She's just not that into you". Basically when a woman tells you that your too nice, it's her way of saying, she likes you, wants to stay a friend, but dosen't want to have sex with you. Is it because your too nice? Probably not. It's probably a chemistry thing. This is a question I'd ask Jake. He knows a lot about that stuff for guys.

There seems to be some mis-directed caveman logic here. When a cavewoman says you're too nice, that doesn't mean you should be mean to her. It means you're supposed to make her feel valued by beating up any other guy that comes near her.  |

The obvious reason for this post was to gain some tang. How many offers have you had? I mean there is always some guy whining "I'm a nice guy. Women treat me like shit. Poor me, I just want a woman to love". Then, some chick is like "OMG, I am looking for a nice guy just like you, I am so tired of being treated like trash. Wow, you open doors? You are the man of my dreams. OMGZ!!! Flowers! You are a keeper". Then 2 months later you find out she is still banging her loser ex-boyfriend who treats her like crap but knows how to put his back into it.
So, how many private messages have you had so far?
