Wireless.
Well, except for the one that connects the extra bits to the remote. |

Heh, didn't read that properly... feel stupid now.
![]() For anyone who can't be bothered to read the article, the analogue stick comes off so the controller portion can be used alone. The really cool thing is that it knows it's position and orientation in 3D (yes this would totally rock for SL). |

that's either the best game-controller design ever, or the worst vibrator.

I would break that expansion port so fast, it's not even funny. I'm one of those people who tends to get, shall we say, "emotionally involved" in their gaming. During hairier situations within a game, I tend to get a bit white-knuckled, flailing the controller around while pressing the buttons as hard as I can, sometimes even going so far as flexing the controller's chassis a little bit if I'm really into it. Were I to be holding not one, but two controllers, seprated and held together by just that short little wire, I'm pretty sure I'd yank them right apart. Somehow I suspect that neither the port, the plug, or the wire iteself would appreciate that very much, not to mention the unavoidable losing of the game that would ensue while I scramble to plug the thing back in, even if it's not broken.
I agree with Nisa's comment (at least I think I do). Wired and wireless is just silly. If the main unit is wireless, it seems a little dumb that the accessories are not wireless as well. At the very least, make the wire longger than a human armspan, so that the two hands can each do their own thing. Other than that, I think the concept is pretty cool. _____________________

But it looks stupid. And just for the record, the cord does seem a lot longer in the video. |

I can't even imagine using a controller like that. Yeah, Nintendo needed to come up with something new to try and get back into the industry they virtually invented, but trying to re-invent the controller was NOT the way to go. It will flop. Nintendo will be out of the console market within 3 years.

Unbeliever! Heathen! It is beatiful, beu-ti-ful. Well, the remote bit on it's own will look a hell of a lot better than a normal controler on your coffee table anyway. The new controller would be 100x better if it looked like this. ![]() ![]() _____________________

Nintendo will be out of the console market within 3 years. Hey, let's not get crazy. Nintendo has enough loyalists that they can support themselves. I <3 Nintendo. I even had a nintendo jacket when I was kid. _____________________

All I want is a Pokemon game using the ideas of Pokemon Crystal that doesn't suck and is playable on the internet.

I saw a picture earlier today at work, and I thought it was ridiculous. I then read the review. The thing can sense it's position and orientation in space, and it can also be used as a traditional controller. None of this three-pronged, trident controller bullshit. No gargantuan biscuit to bobble while I play. The thing has the beauty of an ipod and the user friendliness of the original nintendo controller. This is only the second console in 10 years which I will actually purchase.

I'd have to try it out for myself. Back in the 8 bit NES days, I initally thought the NES controllers were kinda stupid. I was used to various stick configurations, and the Intellevision control disk didn't agree with me. After playing with the NES stock controllers a few hours, I found that I could live with them. I guess these new controllers could actually work nicely.
Yeah, I agree. They do kinda look stupid. ![]() _____________________

Why don't they make controllers that look like that ship from Flight of the Navigator? That would be rad. Screw it, why don't they make controllers that ARE that ship from Flight of the Navigator?

According to some review I read, it looks like a TV remote to make it more accessible to everybody, not just the hard core gamers. Everyone is happy with TV remotes.
And who cares what it looks like? It's Nintendo completely changing what gaming is going to feel like and what is possible. It's a 3d mouse! I want one to go with my 3d laptop screen, then second life building will be just wonderful. _____________________

Well.. It looks kinda stupid, sounds cool, and includes my favorite part of the old N64 controller, one of the few controllers I could ever seem to use with one hand. ^.^

I really like it.
It's a 3D-Space mouse with rumble-feedback. Some people mistake it for a "pointer," but where they miss the point is that it can detect z-axis positioning, tilt, rotations, etc. I'm imagining sword-fights as link. Or casting spells in a final fantasy game. Or walking around an adventure game and tugging on some object in 3D space and feeling it resist my "pull." Besides, with a versatile attachement system, they've already made something for those gamers who just can't live with something new. I for one am eagerly awaiting the revolution. Nintendo is a game company that cares about the games and gaming experience. They don't sell TVs or DVD players or sue people for sharing music. They don't have office products or sell web servers. They focus on one thing and I admire that. Plus -- I like what they put out. ![]() _____________________
