Holiday Heart is a made for TV movie starring Ving Rhames as a rather flamboyant gay man.

The movie is okay, a little too schmaltzy for my tastes.

I mostly mention it because it's Ving Rhames - the same actor who played the badass Marcellus Wallace in Pulp Fiction - doing this very over-the-top role. :)

This is probably too late, but I'll make the suggestion anyway...

Prick Up Your Ears is a great movie. Gary Oldman plays Joe Orton, the playwright, and it's a pretty powerful story based on his life and rather disturbing death. Definitely worth a watch whether you're gay or straight.

Showgirls is very high on my list!

Trick is a cute movie and it makes me smile. Plus it has Tori Spelling in it. How bad can it be?

There are so many "gay themed" movies that revolve around HIV and AIDS that personally I am kind of tired of them. I get the point and after watching a lot of people die, I know what AIDS is.

Here are some recent favorites of mine that show either romantic love or coming out stories or just things that made me feel good without slipping in terminal illness:

Get Real
Mambo Italiano
Beautiful Thing
Red Dirt
Prom Queen

I'm a little surprised nobody's mentioned "Latter Days" yet.
Little bit of skin, little bit of romance, little bit of tear-jerking and a good performance by Steve Sandvoss.

One of my favorite gay flavored movies is Velvet Goldmine, it depicts the era of glam rock in a very interesting way. Micheal Stipes (REM frontman) produced it, I think. The actors were all good, but the storyline is kind of vapid, really, but it's worth it to see Ewan McGregor and Christian Bale share a 'moment'.

Gods and Monsters. Get him Gods and Monsters. It's incredible.

Sir Ian McKellen, Brandon Fraser, and Lynn Redgrave in a movie about the end of James Whale's life. (He's the guy who did Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein, and he also happened to be gay.)

"Highlander" is not gay themed but it is widly accepted as a "gay" movie. I dunno why, then again I'm straight. Even if it isn't, its still a darn good movie and one of my favorites.
