I did do a search for it before I posted it, I must have typed it in wrong because it said something like not found. :o

Been around awhile. I'll drool when I see one on a shelf to take home.
But I'm like that, I don't care about what they SAY it'll do. I care about what I can take home, use, and if possible, beat someone up with while checking my mail.

I have a pretty good memory, that's the only reason I knew it was there. But yea... I searched for it as a resident first causeI didn't look at the right tab. Go figure :p

If the key layout didnt suck so much, I'd probably preorder one.

Each key is a small display in it's own right. This means you can change the keyboard layout and the keys change with it; and more, it has programmable keys that can be set to use the actual icon of the program to start it.

Hey! I don't see "Add to Cart"! They better work on it faster! Or else I'll send Darth Vader! (He could kick Chuck Norris's ass just by gesturing.)

It's been coming out 'Real Soon Now' for some months now..... it's vaporware. Those images are renders, not actual photographs. They've been up for the better part of a year now. Even if they DO ever manage to go to production it's insanely expensive, ('the cost of a good cell phone' is how they put it.... sorry 150-300 bucks is too much for a keyboard unless it comes with a vaccum receptacle...) it's not wireless, and those ubercool buttons? Are OLED's. Organic LED's have an insanely short lifespan. (In the thousands of cycles.) So not only is it insanely overpriced to begin with.... you'll be replacing it in six months. A year at most.

Sorry. Nice idea, horrible implementation if it ever does exist.

This is the keyboard I use:

http://www.cvtinc.com/products/keyboards/stellar.htm

It's essentially a hybrid of the Northgate and IBM M-series keyboards. You can club a man to death with its 5 pound steel frame, and still type 120WPM, sounding like a machinegun. The keyboard pressure is very precise, so you don't have to jam a key down to have some chance of making contact. There are F-keys on the left, where they ought to be, so you can hit all of them. It's trivial to remap Caps Lock to Ctrl (because Caps Lock is an abomination).

Like my previous Northgate, and the M-series before that, I expect to have this one for another 5-10 years, which makes it quite cheap when compared with a keyboard that'll be useless after a year of use.

As for spending $200 on a keyboard, you spend that much on a monitor. You spend that much on a chair. You know perfectly well that you're ruining your hands with carpal tunnel syndrome. Why would anyone with the cash be so stupid as to keep using a shitty $10 keyboard when they can use a nice keyboard instead?

The Optimus is a shiny toy for people who never type, just want to have a fancy display system. It ain't a working man's keyboard.

The only reason I don't use my model M is the noise.

But it remains in the closet, my savior when all else fails. You can't wear 'em out... I'm glad to see somebody's making a similar product in case the cat pukes on mine. :)
