the Cosmos series with Carl Sagen.
Seconded!
If you get the Science channel (in the US) though, they're showing it Tuesdays at 9 p.m. and midnight!

Seconded! If you get the Science channel (in the US) though, they're showing it Tuesdays at 9 p.m. and midnight! The show copied from a book that was copied from a book that was stolen from another author. ![]() _____________________

Where is "Mannix" and "The Mod Squad"? Where is "Monty Python's Flying Circus" or "Fat Albert"?
But the one I miss most is M*A*S*H. |

I miss Jerry Springer during the good old cat fight days, when the fights weren't edited out.
Ahhh.....those were such heart warming episodes of family love. |

Most of the shows I miss have been posted already. I agree with Jonquille, I miss Frasier and Cheers (I was 18 weeks pregnant when Cheers broadcast it's last episode and I felt my daughter move for the first time during that last show *sniffle*). I miss the Joel episodes of MST3K.
I also miss Everybody Loves Raymond....even though I know most of you will tell me it was lame . Being a Long Island girl, it made me feel like I was back in my neighborhood on Long Island, listening to my family and friends._____________________

The source of every idea Sagan ever thought he had: Iosef Samuilovich Shklovskii *puts fingers in ears* la la la i disbelieve Seriously, though, I'll never forget the nights my family gathered around the TV to watch ol' Papa Carl. For a girl growing up in an atheist family, it was as close to going to church as I ever got. _____________________

hard choice
03-18-2006 16:33
i had to go with MST3K, but Quantum Leap was a close second for me.
i have to agree though that Dead Like Me was an awesome show. i lost track somewhere along the way, but i loved every minute i watched of it. and too true about the acting. (i always get reminded of that show when i see the Lipitor commercials with Mandy Patinkin, a.k.a. - Rube ..lol) i also miss Sliders.. i was HUGE fan of that one as well. i'd love to see a one-off movie to explain what happened after the last episode!! but really, who can forget Beans Baxter?!? ![]() _____________________

I lost interest in sliders around the time they killed off the professor. He was the best part of that show. They killed him off in such a dishonorable way too. Part of the joy of the show for me, with the original lineup, was the chemistry between the four cast members. I liked seeing the Professor's brash tactics matched up against his student's more cool logic--some of the conversation that came out of it was priceless! I don't think I could beat a tagline like "You blistering idiot!" either.I was also really let down by how they "brought Wade back". It was grim but not something I wanted to endure to see what would happen to the heroes--ending it on a cliffhanger was just too painful! _____________________

Im not familiar with most of the shows in the poll, there should've been an "other/pie" option
![]() I LOVED Firefly. I heard FOX (or whatever network it aired on initially) didn't play its episodes in order and advertised it wrong, royally screwing it over in the mainstream. Its one of the *very* few TV shows I will actually try and persuade people to buy the DVD set for. Dead Like Me rawked. I <3'ed the ways they explored the afterlife, addressing questions every human wonders about eloquently and humorously. Reality TV is bland... along with the OC, and OC-like crap my peers seem to be fixated on. *sigh* ==Chris _____________________

Its one of the *very* few TV shows I will actually try and persuade people to buy the DVD set for. It was Fox. They started with episode three: "The Train Job." In that episode one of the major characters appeared several times but had no spoken lines, leaving people with no idea who she was. They also jumped its time slots around several times, putting it opposite popular shows on other networks. For a full track list of shows (both good and bad) Fox has murdered, see the first episode in season 5 of Family Guy. _____________________

Stuff I miss
03-19-2006 10:13
Dead Like Me was killer.
Six Feet Under loved that too. Twin Peaks, 1st season especially was transformative. Laugh-In - that was just a riot! First few years of SNL, later years have had moments, not full sketches of brilliance but, man oh man did they do great stuff early on! (Anna Freud, Samuari Tailor, Theodoric of York, Bass-O-Matic, Weekend Update and on and on) Speed Buggy Speed Racer Creature Feature The guy who did oil painting classes that always added "happy buffalo", he was German I think, and always sent me and my sister in to spasmatic giggles. Bozo's Circus w/Bob Bell as Bozo. (locals above a certain age will appreciate this ... ) Bill Kurtis & Walter Jacobson co-anchoring the nightly news on CBS. No one has come close. "All's Fair" Bernadette Peters and George Segal, need I say more? "When Things Were Rotten", Mel Brooks' first draft for Robin Hood spoofing, done as a weekly series. The hearld horns in the King's ears joke was retained for the movie, I was happy to see, but the series king was better, as I recall, as much as I like what's his face (no caffeine yet sorry). Anyone spinning plates on sticks. _____________________

I lost interest in sliders around the time they killed off the professor. He was the best part of that show. In my opinion, that was the beginning of the end for the series. The early Fox episodes were a nice mix of science fiction and comedy. The "People's Court" bit (in parallel communist run America) during the series pilot was priceless. The show was very different, and good. Even worse, when the SciFi Channel got it, they stripped away much of the humor and wit and turned the show into a generic by the numbers scf-fi show. What was left bore little in common with the Fox episodes. |

how much time till our next slide?
03-19-2006 17:22
just wanted to jump in real quick and say you're all absolutely right.
Sliders was awesome at the beginning, but as it wore on (i.e., after the Prof) it became more and more lame, a few fun times, but overall.. it's also why i lost interest. oh yeah.. The Electric Company.. that was a great show. like Sesame Street on crack! ![]() _____________________

Out of those listed, I went with MST3K, the original Joel years. Buffy I liked until they made Spike a big whiney puss. The X-Files lost my interest when Mulder left. Amen on all three of those, Jonquille. I will definitely miss The West Wing when it's gone. *sigh* The real West Wing was gone when Aaron Sorkin left. What's plodding along on Wednesdays now is like a BtVS vampire: a corpse inhabited by a demon soul. In this case, the demon soul is John Wells' writing ability. Eggy, believe me, if you liked X-Files and Xena you should go borrow Buffy Season One on DVD now. I bet you know someone who has it. ![]() _____________________
