Has any console RPG really topped FF7?

Yes. Morrowind and Knights of the old republic blow the bejezzus out of any of the increasingly tedious FF series.

I had tons and tons of mods for Morrowind. Made some stuff for myself as well. KOTOR I never got around to playing. Now I can hardly wait for Oblivion.

I'll <3 the 360 when the price drops and the good hackers port Xebian to it.

Ok so i am really responding to your signature here. In looking at the System you have outlined, I have only two additions: watercooling, and overclock the shit out of the processer. then you too can play SL lag free.

FF7 is the best RPG ever. EVER. I am replaying it now, in fact, for the fourth time.

Granted, it goes a bit on a tangent when it goes into kabbalistic numerology, but it's a fantastic summary of the real conflict in FF7.

OK I have read the reviews and remained convinced that FF7 rules! I confess, though, that Suikoden 1,2,3 and both Chronos are mighty contenders.

You FF1 to FF6 people are to be commended on your loyality if not your memories and judgement.

Well, for RPGs, I've always been partial to Neverwinter Nights, in that you can host your own games. Brings back memories of the late 70s early 80s for me.

Though not an RPG, if you want a mind-screw of a game, you can go with the Legacy of Kain series. Except for Blood Omen 2. That was a little hokey ^_^

4th time? Pft, newb! Have you beaten Ruby yet? That's probably the hardest battle in ff7 if you don't know what you are doing, but once you master it, it's autopilot and cream cheese

FF7 was definatly the best one i tried to, i played 1 to 8 , (8 was blah)

I dislike consoles alot so i never use them but these are some rpg's i did like.

Ok theres one "console" game i did try i liked, Fable , very pretty fast loading (pc offcourse)

Yeah just slap 16 counterattcks on yourself and watch Ruby beg for mercy! Give him a few KoRs for good measure too.

Final attack - phoenix, counter attack, hp steal - ultimate summon, mp steal - ultimate summon. start off with KOTR then keep going with it, ull jump frmo 9999 HP to like 999 hp then with the next KOTR ull be maxed out again, if you do accidently die, ull have the phoenix just in case . Oh and kill everyone except the person with the correct junctions so that you know who will fight ruby.

Yeah, by that time you've already bred the fastest Gold Chocobo possible, so it's kinda a bust...

At least it gets you bored enough that you never actually get around to fighting Sephiroth.

I haven't played that many games, and I'm not sure if it counts as an RPG, but I thought Ico was wonderful... visually, it's the nicest game I've seen.

Yea, it's speed topped out at like 120ish, my fastest already was at 180ish :-/

It's actually a safer strategy to do w-summon, KOTR, Hades, MIME. Phoenix-final attack is a safe bet, too. If youo have master summer, sure, slap on a MP absorb.

This way requires one less master summon (which takes a bitchload of AP to get, whereas you can beat Emerald using about the same combination)

This way also is safer because Ruby is not immune to Hades, and can be stunned, meaning endless streaming KOTR / Hades as your w-summon being Mimed.

Once I get some $$ together thats next!
