From: Chip Midnight I think he's entitled to be as weird as he wants to be. I do worry about those kids though. I can imagine them growing up with a very skewed view of the world and their place in it.
The bit in that article about him accidentaly using the women's restroom made me laugh though (because it's happened to me). I was driving from Maryland to Michigan and passed one rest stop too many on the Ohio turnpike. I spent about half an hour having to go so bad I thought I was going to pass out. When I finally got to the next one I literally ran into the bathroom, into a stall, closed the door, and let out a sigh of relief that was probably heard all the way to Indianna. Ah that was you I heard! Hoosier

Why is he doing this? Sure, the country he's in now only has laws against sodomy, but that entire region isn't exactly known for it's acceptance of genderbending, changing, and/or homosexual behavior.
....and how many people, at least socially, don't know there's a difference between transvestites and drag queens?

When I finally got to the next one I literally ran into the bathroom, into a stall, closed the door, and let out a sigh of relief that was probably heard all the way to Indianna. As I was sitting there doing my business other people started to come into the bathroom and I started seeing their shoes pass by under the door, and they were all very tiny. After the third person went by it dawned on me that in my haste I'd gone into the ladies room by mistake (it was empty when I went in, thankfully). I figured I'd just sit there for a while until it was empty again and then leave. So I waited, and waited and waited some more. After a good half hour it still wouldn't empty out so finally I just put my head down and walked out as fast as I could. I'm not sure anyone noticed since no one screamed, hehe. I ran to my car fully expecting to be chased by security guards or something. "It's a peeping tom! Get him!" How embarassing! ROFL this should so be in that movie.. 40 yr old virgin.. ROFL JK!!!!!! oh remenber when michael attended that vh1 music awards?? Such a DIVA.

Ya know what? I don't think intolerance has anything to do with this thread. It's the astounding creepiness that is Michael Jackson -- with or without plastic surgery, masks, makeup and dresses, that makes it pretty acceptable to giggle and make jokes.
I'm a gay man, who's favorite standup comedian is Eddie Izzard, who's brother is a transvestite, and who commonly hangs out with a pre-op transsexual .... and all aforementioned people in this sentence agree -- Michael Jackson is just plain scary.
edit: Oops -- not clear. I don't know what Eddie Izzard thinks of Michael Jackson.

If I was MJ (scary thought), I'd be inclined to dress like that too. Why? How else could he go out in public and be somewhat anonymous? It didn't work this time but you can't fault him for trying.

Or do you know the Michael Jackson that the media wishes you to know --the one that is supposed to make playing by your own rules and tipping the apple-cart on social "norms" seem icky and creepy. So -- you, the "Gay-Man" , your "transvestite" brother AND a pre-op transsexual all pronounce Michael Jackson to be creepy and giggle-worthy. So it's OKAY! Hurrrray!!!!! Yah --well this particular transsexual is deeply offended by this whole thread. That okay with you?

Jackson wearing women's clothes does not surprise me. Anyone who saw him wearing pajama pants to his trial (or his wardrobe choices for the past twenty years) shouldn't be surprised by anything he wears. C'mon people. He's been pushing fashion limits from the beginning. He's clearly been in the androgynous zone for quite a while now.
I will, however, echo the concerns of other posters in saying that his children are going to be so incredibly, fantasically screwed up. I laughed my ass of when I read the part in the article where the unidentified woman accompanying Jackson and his children on their stroll through the streets of Manama "asked photographers to respect their privacy and told them they were scaring the children before they left in a white car with darkened windows".
Yeah, because having a father whose image is that of a cross dressing child molester, a father who forces you to constantly obscure your faces from society isn't scary enough.
Jackson - and anyone else for that matter - has the right to dress and live however he wants as long as his actions do not cause irreparable harm (physical or emotional) to those around him. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he never had a childhood, he was abused as a child. But when you make a conscious decision to have children of your own (which he did) it's time to grow up (or at least fake that you're grown up and responsible until your children are emotionally able to handle the truth).
Agree. Disagree. I don't care. That's my two cents. You can have yours.

From: Tod69 Talamasca Would YOU let him watch your kids? Yes. From: Tod69 Talamasca There's a fine line between eccentric rich guy & insanity. I think MJ is slowly creeping over the line.... Michael Jackson is not insane he is "crazy" (In the sense of the Jack Nicholson definition of crazy) His children are almost certainly going to grow up as oddballs, but realistically there are tons and tons of worse parents you could have than Michael Jackson (like the parents of those kids that just tried to put him in jail)

Jackson bashing has become a national pastime. Apparently going by "American Idol" so has all manner of fag and trannie bashing. I'll be over in the corner should you wish to beat me up.

Eh, I can see why people think MJ is creepy, though I disagree. I think he seems like an ok guy, and a rather intriguing personality. But, I guess expecting people to have some maturity with regards to celebrities is too much to ask.

"Hahahahaaha look at the silly trannie!"
This thread makes me ill. Seriously, i wasn't really giving any meaning to that post, Kendra. No intolerance, and no bigotry here. I really just posted the pic because i found it fitting, just for fun. Not that kind of fun you are seeing. Gender, sexual orientation and all weren't even in my mind. Now i realize that some people might have a bad reaction. My mistake, then. Only, don't call me a bigot. From you, it hurts.

Hey -- I'm sorry, Kendra. I'm okay with "eccentric" behaviors, and blabbering about my brother and what-not was a weak attempt to drive that in. I just thought it would help to say that personally, his own demeanor -- his presence, is what does it for me, not his style. His friendship with Macauly Caulkin (sp???) back in 1990 seemed a bit ... off, as well as the time he went on national television just to bitch and moan about being questioned by police.
You can go to a gay bar (screw that -- any bar) and find awesome people, but then there's always one or two in the back of the room, who can just creep you out.

For some reason, I have this feeling MJ & his kids will be like the family from Texas Chainsaw Masacre, snagging helpless victims, wearing their skin.

Well you might not have to look as far as Michael Jackson to find a dumb Hillbilly type, check the room you are in perhaps. It's not even a good comparison. Chainsaw Massacre:- dumb - dirty - violent - clinically insane Michael Jackson- smart(ish) - very clean - extremely non-violent - clinically sane If you are going to be as offensive as you seem to want to be, you should at least make your insults make sense. Try buying more "Mad" magazines.

Just to make where I feel about this a little more understandable.
I'm about Michael Jackson's age, grew up with his music, and even at times emulated him because I felt somehwat kindred with him.
Our paths have not been the same. In my case around the age of 30 I decided to live the rest of my life as the woman I knew myself to be. My physical appearance being not radically different than Mr. Jackson's (tho' I'll allow I'm not a big fan of cosmetic surgery)
I'm a low-grade celebrity that because of my physical appearance chose instead to become a voice actress. I often wonder when MJ hits the news how my own eccentricities if fueled by vast sums of money would be recieved.
I wonder if I had children, how many people would "worry" about the kids being raised by a :::gasp:: trannie, or indeed since I love being around children, how many people would question my motives for wanting to be around them.
As a total picture, I view the sanctioned bashing of Michael Jackson as the sanctioned bashing of those of us who are diffrently gendered.
I worry about Michael's children as well, but not because of Michael Jackson. I worry about them because society seems to think it's okay to bash their father.

saying Michael Jackson is creepy may be inflammatory, but the actual meaning is what is inferred, as in "he creeps me out". this is a simple opinion that anybody has the right to hold for any reason as it's simply a statement of initial emotional reaction to someone or something. as far as M Jackson goes, i understand why some people could be "creeped out" by him.. these days his face looks so completely different from when he was younger, even as late as the eighties, it would be easy to be put off by such a thing. he DOES look skeletal, that's a fact. he has an odd look to, no doubt. whether this frightens you or you're indifferent to it is a matter of personal opinion.
his actions have become increasingly eccentric and can easily be read as "shady" at times. is it condemning that he likes spending time with children, especially boys, alone on his ranch? not at all. is it a bit disconcerting? easily, for many. he's either someone who likes spending time with children because he missed out on his childhood and there's a combination of trying to relive his and enjoying letting other children live theirs.. or, due to the various aberrations of normalcy he's been through, he has a sexual attraction to them. ..maybe a bit of both. i don't know what the truth is, but i bet it's mostly that he likes seeing children happy. on the other hand, i wouldn't be surprised if there's a sexual attraction as well.. but it's almost psychologically logical. it's the age range which he connects with the most; therefor, would it not be the age range he would be attracted to? even if he knows it's wrong? i'm not saying whether it's true or not.. i'm just saying it makes sound sense, medically.
my main reaction to his choice of clothing has more to do with culture than with gender. one sex dressing in clothes meant for the opposite sex in America, or many other places, isn't a big deal.. maybe to some, but it's not offensive to the culture as a whole. his choice of clothing in this instance is one that could be offensive to a culture. a place where much more importance and reverance, of a sort, is placed upon these traditional clothes. he could be placing himself and his children in danger due to this choice, not because he's wearing women's clothes, but because he's possibly defiling tradition inthe eyes of locals in that region.
-
on another note, i strongly suggest that the offensive attacks being posted be reigned in. i even encourage those of you who have made inflammatory remarks to go back and edit your posts to reflect a more civil manner of discourse.
currently the ResMod "powers" are in a state of suspension, or else i suspect this thread would have been shut down already. possibly even by myself. but i'd rather try to redirect a thread with positive reinforcement before taking such drastic measures. as a matter of fact, i don't think i've ever reported a thread and i would rather not have to start. (man, did that sound snooty or is just me? i just can't think of a nicer way to put that.. argh)
