I've misplaced my things within my apartment. Leaving it up to chance isn't working, so maybe you guys could give me some suggestions. Just imagine an apartment that looks like the Russian spies broke in while I was away and turned the whole place upside down and that's not a far off picture of my apartment... But weirder (think sewing machine next to car radio next to bass amp next to pvc pipe next to daruma next to 50lb bag of rice weird).

Missing Items:

Photoshop CD
Cool Edit Pro CD
Vast: Nude CD (although I've managed to find the empty case for this one)
*FSOL: ISDN CD

I've always found that actually lifting up stuff to look under it helps. Could these items have been loaned out and maybe you forgot you did? (Just asking, cause I've done that before)

No. I tend not to loan out things unless it is in exchange for something else so I don't forget. They're definitely here.

GL, I hate losing my CD's. Especially the ones you only use once to install and then you put them somewhere and forget where they are.

MJ :)

The Vast CD is in your car, the 2 software CDs are in a stack of CDs near the PC case. :D

Maybe it helps to know that I used the first two about 2 weeks ago on my girlfriend's pc in the living room. Somehow they didn't make it back to their normal cd stack next to the daruma. As for the Vast CD, I haven't seen it in a year. To give you an idea of how that's possible, I lost Pop Will Eat Iself: Dos Dedos Mis Amigos for about two years until Tuesday night when my girlfriend found it in the wrong cd case in the hallway.

Hm... which car? The one that I just put in the junkyard, the one in the carport, or the one on the street?

I'm gonna go with the one you drive the least...hopefully not the one in the junkyard.

Hm. I haven't driven the one in the carport since January 2004, so I'm going to go with that one.

Nah, I only brought my new cd's in the one I junked and I have 'em all.

Oh, and I didn't find the first two in any of the piles near either of the computers. Could you be more specific?

Okay, so the car in the carport might be the one.

If I could be more specific I would be loaded and probably not on here right now

But you did mention that you have a girlfriend and I did not add that to my deductive logic before....so they won't be in piles.

They will be tucked away somewhere logical to her maybe.

If you have some kind of software or CD container near your PC, that's the best place to check. Women put things where men wouldn't think to look, so start with that. (If she moved them)

Leaving it up to Chance isn't working

:D

oh - and if your apartment is linked, just drag it off so a neighbors parcel for a short while, stand in the middle of whatever's left, and fly the camera around until you find your missing stuff.

Chance, have you looked under your keyboard/mousepad/behind your monitor for the uncased CDs? They slide nicely into smallish places, and you would never know that they were living there. It is the "hiding in plain sight" school of finding stuff. :D

Its simple chance, they've slipped into that alternate dimension where odd socks, favorite plektra, and vital phone numbers scribbled on scraps of paper go.
If you lock your flux capacitor into a phase locked loop, then bounce a graviton particle beam off the main deflector dish, the resultant strain on the time space continuum will cause them to reappear 3 inches in front of your face in a puff of violet smoke.

The only thing I buy a lot of are cd's and books. A lot of the reason there is so much weird stuff everywhere is because there are two people living in a one bedroom apartment and both of us are the creative moody type. I can't really argue for "needing" music in a utilitarian sense, but I do need it for emotional and creative reasons. The CEP and AP discs haven't been missing very long and I do need them. I don't keep mementos- I don't even keep pictures of people in frames on desks, walls, etc. That's not my personality type.

Anywho. Thanks for your unsolicited advice. I wanted to know where I should look because it would be fun, not have a smartass tell me how to live my life. :p

Mousepad? What's that? :D I don't even use a desk anymore since I got a laser mouse. Both application CDs were in the same cd case, the last I saw. I can't even find the case. So frustrating.
