I'm waiting for the muggings to begin when the PS3 is released. I remember hearing on the news of people getting robbed & mugged for their console systems.

Nou not Fallout3 its still in planning stage but i cant remember who said they where doing it ( was some company i didnt like that i remember ![]() ![]() Not to sure about fallout3 -.- kinda fond of turnbased combat & rpg scifi, fps...i suffer from motion sickness <,< The thing I loved about Fallout 1&2 was that you could choose to be either good or evil or even middle of the road and you weren't cut-off from good story elements because of it. They (interplay) tried making a fantasy game based on the Fallout system (Lionheart: Legacy of the crusader) and it sucked. really really sucked I agree about turn based combat. I didn't like the Baulder's gate and Neverwinter nights games because of their crappy version of quasi-turn based combat. Here is the wiki link My favorite turn-based combat game of all time, though, is probably Xcom: Ufo defense. I hated the sequals, though. *sigh* _____________________

Ooh, a gaming thread. Guess I'll come out of lurking for a bit.
Forgot wich company, but someone else is trying to make a game that pretty much has all the variety Oblivion have and more to pc but in sci-fi settings, (there sure not enough of those to pc -.-) Yeh it will prob come out in like 10 years : p also, apparently Sony is in the process of patenting a technology that would prevent rented, borrowed, used games from being played. if this is used in the PS3, they may as well consider it dead already. Well since the PS3 is better then anything microsoft could make (sorry microsoft, I would kill for you, I tried to assasinate that guy who created the mac and the ipod, but you just fucked up on trying to challenge sony [period]) I am sure that sony will pull through. Microsoft PWNZ all else except music and gaming stations. I mean the "X-Box.. with its wierd ass, too un-original style controllers and weak platform (compared to PS2)?". It may beat everything else, but when up against PS2, its like macs' OSX up against XPs. The industry not backing the blu-ray is a bit of a laugh to be honest. Look at dvd's and cd's when they first came out people were skeptical then. And blu-ray and hd-dvd costs are about the same though the player itself is cheaper for hd-dvd. As far as the Oblivion announcement (is it an announcement or a rumor? I never checked because it's not a game I'm interested in - needs too much time committed to it) is concerned; I'd guess it's aimed at people who were going to get a PS3 but are tempted by the 360 because of said game yet haven't bought it yet - to get them to go "oh, I'll wait for it on the PS3 then". It's going to be interesting to watch this round of consoles, what with Nintendo off trying to do their own thing and two huge players with shitloads of money to throw at things up against each other. I could well see the Xbox gaining considerable ground on the PlayStation, at least in the west anyway. Sony does have a huge mind-share, which will help immensely, but then so did Atari, Nintendo and the other "fallen giants". Still, I'm more than happy with my DS for the conceivable future. ![]() _____________________

I know it's slightly necro but I couldn't stay out of this post.
Will the PS3 be the next 3DO? Turbografix 16? Gameboy VR? Sega Saturn? OK nothing sold as little as the Gameboy VR, that thing just flat sucked, it was all red wireframe....but still. I don't think the PS3 will go the way of these systems, but not by merit. I think that if the PS1 and PS2 hadn't built the fanbase they had, the PS3 would be dead in the water already. Too many features but too high a cost, combined with Sony's history of intentional stock shortages, would normally make this machine the Delorean of the modern consoles and you'd see them as moneydump relics in a year. But the Sony fanbase is huge, and the fanboys will scream up and down that they're getting the best system for the money, even though they don't have an HDTV so it looks much like a PS2 screen. I think it'll be more like the Nintendo 64: lots of people had em...for awhile...but it was just not worth it at the time. The 360 is the obvious new darling of the industry, and when the WII comes out, Nintendo will either redefine how we game or assertively define themselves as the company who has the great tech that noone can comfortably use. I'm thinking the former, the Wii looks great. _____________________
