apparently, the PS3 will be sporting it's own version of Elderscrolls: Oblivion come November.

BUT...

who cares? by the time it's out, hard-core Oblivion fans will have finished the game with at least 1 - 2 characters and looking for soemthing new.

is Sony grasping at straws? or is there something worth going "ooh - ahh" over?

personally, i think Sony is trying to cash in on the obvious Microsoft Xbox cash-cow.
they know they're system is harder to code for, more expensive than either of the next-gen systems (in fact, you could buy EACH of the other two systems for the same price of ONE PS3) and has nothing of the buzz that Nintendo's Wii has, nor does it have the next-gen base that 360 has been (aggravatingly slowly) building and will be punching up a notch come the holiday season. (i.e., Halo 3)

but Oblivion on PS3? feh.. who really cares at this point? especially come november?

Considering Sony is already in deep doo-doo over the DRM backdoor their music CDs installed on computers, and the delay in the release of the PS3, with it's high price tag & a disc format the industry isnt backing, I think Sony may be the least favorite of these new consoles.

Anyone feel like spending close to $1000 just to play games???

The way I see it, the only thing that will get people to buy the PS3 will be good exclusive titles. Most people aren't willing to shell out twice the cash to play the same games they can play on an xBox 360 or a Wii. If it wasn't for Halo, the original xBox would have most likely died off years ago.

I was actually considering getting a PS3, but at that price, I'll wait a year. BTW, I haven't bought a console system since I got my Genesis and later a Sega CD.

Edit: I take that back. I have a PSP. Games and the ability to surf the web Wi-Fi style.

Bethesda (the people who made Oblivion) is also making Fallout 3... it'll be the same first-person style since that's what they are best at, not the top-down perspective of the previous two. Is that what you were thinking of?

I'm actually looking more forward to the Nintendo Wii than the PS3, because of the price and being able to download the older Nintendo games.

Nou not Fallout3 its still in planning stage but i cant remember who said they where doing it ( was some company i didnt like that i remember:O ), i liked fallout 1-2 , but then they dropped and made the strategy fallout (blah) and then it fell apart :( boooh,

Not to sure about fallout3 -.- kinda fond of turnbased combat & rpg scifi, fps...i suffer from motion sickness <,<

older Nintendo games ?, just download mame/other emu, and get bajillion snes,nes,sega,c64,amiga :>

My mom has snes emu -.- cause her controller kept dying , betting she played supermario (every one) about 1000 times

I enjoyed Fallout:Tactics, but yeah it wasn't nearly as good as the others.

I'm going to get a Wii (ugh) first, then a PS3 if there are good rpgs for it. For some reason Sony gets all the rpgs for their platforms, it's annoying.

for those without a next-gen console at this point will basically be able to buy a 360 AND a Wii for the same price as a PS3.. ouch..

also, apparently Sony is in the process of patenting a technology that would prevent rented, borrowed, used games from being played. if this is used in the PS3, they may as well consider it dead already.

not to mention, 360 will be getting the Marvel MMORPG. from what i recall, it's supposed to be exclusive; however, i have to wonder about the cross-platform functionality between 360 and Windows.

Well since the PS3 is better then anything microsoft could make (sorry microsoft, I would kill for you, I tried to assasinate that guy who created the mac and the ipod, but you just fucked up on trying to challenge sony [period]) I am sure that sony will pull through. Microsoft PWNZ all else except music and gaming stations. I mean the "X-Box.. with its wierd ass, too un-original style controllers and weak platform (compared to PS2)?". It may beat everything else, but when up against PS2, its like macs' OSX up against XPs.

Exclusive titles will pull the PS3 through, I'll be going for the Wii myself. After my PS2 just stopped reading disks, I'm not gonna spend £700(ish?) on a PS3 and risk it doing it again. Anyway, I got a PSP so sony have had enough money out of me.

I still like playing on my N64 :D.

They sure are good at growing extra feet to shoot themselves in. I have been a Playstation fan (but not fanboy) for years, but now with the numerous problems plaguing them, the ridiculous price, and the whole rootkit fiasco, there is no way in hell I am buying a PS3. I'll just sink that money into a good gaming machine. PS3 can't play SL!

The ps3 will fall down for the first year as projected and climb back up in its second year. Microsoft has made to many mistakes with what is released on their consoles and people are way to skeptical after the last time. Taking into consideration to play an HD-Dvd on the 360 will push the 360 with the add on about up to what the ps3 will cost as well. Also taking into consideration that blu-ray players currently have a price tag of 999.99 you are actually making out buying the PS3. Considering your getting a great gaming console + a blu-ray player its well worth the money.

The industry not backing the blu-ray is a bit of a laugh to be honest. Look at dvd's and cd's when they first came out people were skeptical then. And blu-ray and hd-dvd costs are about the same though the player itself is cheaper for hd-dvd. Blu-ray holds more data so it'll become the prefered format in the long run of things once players start getting cheaper that is. I for one will be getting the PS3 and mabye the Wii depending what i see on there. I will no be getting the 360 because my experience wtih the original X-box has left a bitter taste in my mouth towards microsoft as a console maker. Mabye if they learned what to release it'd go better.

Well yeah the 1st gen ps2's did it was a design flaw really. Wait for the 2nd gen consoles to come out to be safe if you plan to get it :). Im sure they'll be along readily soon enough. A few things will pull the ps3 thru but they will fall down a bit in 2007 and rise back up in 2008.

Even though I'm not a fan of consoles, I'm even considering Nintendo's Wii. The controller is what caught my attention. My fiance would like a PS2 just so she can play Dance Dance Revolution (Ever see big breasted women play? Oh Yea!;))

I was considering picking up a PS2 just for a few games but I already have a ton of crap hooked up to my tv, mostly PC-To-TV/TV-To-PC stuff. And as someone said- Consoles cant play SL :D

The Wii will rule all! Heh. At least until developers learn to take advantage of the Cell processor, which will be a while yet.

All I can say is I only buy systems for the resident evil games because I dont like spending a lot of money. The ps3 is suppose to be 699 in us dollars just for the console....why dont they just round it off and call it 700 DOLLARS. By the time you buy the games and everything it will probably be near 800 dollars if the game is at the 60 or 70 dollar range which xbox 360 games seem to be at. I am going to wait till i see one used on ebay for 400 and buy that because all i will be getting is resident evil 5 for it and then nintendo wii has been rumored to be around 250 and a resident evil game is also comming out for that (big plus.) The nintendo one will be the new big thing because it doesnt suck your pockets dry for a thing that isnt needed.

Watch little kids will want one of the new systems and parents will aim to get the nintendo one because of the resonable price range.
