http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2006/04/30/bush_challenges_hundreds_of_laws/who's the authority? WE'RE the authority. the voting, tax-paying public. the pointy end of the pyramid is -down- here. public opinion is not restricted to whether oj did it or not. we bow to only those who have earned it, and fire those incompetent. http://www.dailykos.com/http://americablog.blogspot.com/http://www.crooksandliars.com/as they once liked to say... if you're not angry, you're not paying attention. or, as rage against the machine said... anger is a gift. wake up. wake up. wake up.

I agree with what you are saying... But public opinion is not fact, it is opinion. You can't possibly be arguning that public opinion should be the basis for determining fact or truth? If we did it your way then everyone should shut-up about GAY MARRIAGE, we would be a CHRISTIAN nation and there would be giant walls around the border. Public opinion is in the majority about the things I just described, but I think we could all agree that those opinions dont make them right. All I'm asking for is an authoritative body that concludes that any of those things listed in my above post are found to be beyond a reasonable doubt. For example: Would you accept if the UN declared the IRaq war Illegal? If so, then please show me where it is charged. Would you agree that a Congressional Hearing on the NSA wiretaps would be authoritative? If so, please point me to the documents that state that determination. Would you agree that the Supreme Court would be authoritative on the unconstitutionality of the Patriot Act? If so, then please refer me to the case where they conclude thusly. etc, etc. I'm open to opinions, but could you present a little fact and authority with your views? For every point you make by using a newspaper artivle, etc, there are contrary opinions. If the preseident is to be impeached, we have to move beyond opinion.

From: someone Seriously...tell me the AUTHORITATIVE BODY that ruled these things to be true as you describe. That is why the congress is granted the power to hold impeachment hearings to make rulings on such matters. Then again, I'd hardly call the congress "authoritative", but the Constitution does and that is slightly more binding than my opinion.

As a liberal, I've come to understand that both political parties are tripe, the constitution may as well be written on the back of a Waffle House napkin and used as such, and that the best thing that could happen to this country is for its entire political system to collapse under the weight of its own bullshit.
To facilitate my final point, I think I may vote Republican in the future, as that seems the fastest path to reaching that point of collapse.
Consider my vote for a Republican a terrorist act, because it's exactly what it is.
