I thought about this just yesterday. When I can't afford to drive anymore, where do I put my son's child-safety seat? Does it make a convenient backpack? How are we going to move children? Anyone who has walked with a toddler or pre-schooler without a stroller knows it is like herding cats.

Why should you herd cats when you can put them in strollers too?

Don't need any... 2 weeks after Puke George W. Bush staged his Coup, and overthrew President Al Gore with the help of the currupt Supreme Court, gas went from 1.09 to 1.39 over night then it slowly rose from there.

that's about 0.66 Euro a liter.
I have to pay 1.41 euro a liter.

Do I feel sorry? Not if you're paying less then half of what the rest of the world is paying.
Some countries are trying to lower fuel consuption, to cut down on polution, so future generations will have a better world. Including your child.

(sorry, don't take it too personally. But if you call your gas "expensive" it makes me laugh..)

The US has and oil-for-blood exchange program in place to keep prices down.

If you are mad, what type of Auto do you drive? Is the auto fuel efficient? What are the alternates to driving? Is there Bus or train service available and if not why? Do you support drilling for oil wherever it can be found? If not why?

Perhaps the blame should be placed where it belongs, people should look in the mirror and ask themselves if they make the price of engery more or less expensive by their actions.

$3.05 a F'ing gallon for regular unleaded.

The world is ending!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, maybe not, but my pregnant ass is walking....and it won't quit raining. This just sucks. I know there is nothing I can do about it, but I can still be pissed.

My friend was sweet enought to send me a picture message on my cell phone because she just got gas. She was at my house about 2 hours ago and it was still at $2.99. She noticed the price when she drove by because she needed gas. I guess she should have gotten it then and not waited a few hours.

I would type a whole string of curse words directed at whoever runs the oil companies but I don't want to get moderated.

Try driving a cab and shelling out about $40 a DAY in fuel costs. I can only hope that the county council approves a rate increase like they did temporarily the last time it went over $2.50/gallon. Yes it is tax deductible but I'm having nights when I actually take a financial loss after paying fuel and My lease payment to the cab co.

Well, don't you wish you lived here in the UK then, Creami? You can buy a gallon of regular unleaded here for only £3.69. That's about $6.09 per gallon at current exchange rates...

Your average wages also exceed ours by around $10K US annually and you have much less to drive in your teeny tiny little country. :D

In that case you should use fuel more efficiently, not drive massive SUVs that will never go off-road in their lives.

You could move to Venezuela where gas is .12 US$/gallon. That's 12 cents/gallon in case you aren't paying attention.

For a rough estimate, a gallon is approximately 3 litres.

4.546 litres to be exact.

I am pretty sure it's closer to 3.78541178 liters = 1 gallon.

Not quite, a US gallon is approximately 3/4 of an imperial gallon, about 6 imperial pints rather than 8.

hey everyone, google up "thermal depolymerisation" and see the solution to the oil AND the garbage problems... then ask yourself why we never heard about it in the news...

Oh, come on... we still have some of the cheapest gas in the world.

And most of the countries with more expensive gas have usable mass transit, which most of the US does not.

Even Belize, a third-world country (gas $4) had usable mass transit.

Well, that looks very promising. Clearly it works, so I have to ask the same question, "Why have we never heard of it in the news?"

As the techology currently exists..well, let me quote:
From: someone
According to a recent article by Fortune Magazine, the Carthage plant is currently producing about 400 barrels per day of crude oil. This oil is being refined as No. 2 (a standard grade oil which is used for diesel and residential heating oil) and No. 4 (a lower grade oil used in industrial heating).

I imagine that if/when the technolgy advances to the pont where it can produce oil that can be used as gasoline for our cars and trucks then we will har much more about it. I hope

Nope, at that point, the major oil companies will "discover" a reason why it can't be used... for health reasons, or something... certainly nothing to do with the effect it will have on their profits, oh no...

So, how do we break the oligopoly of the oil companies? Or were you just complaining?

See... here's the problem with the US right now...

1. REALLY FREAKING HORRIBLE gas guzzlers were made
2. We finally figured out that was a bad idea... came up with these nifty-keen FREAKING EXPENSIVE Hybrids, that still aren't as gas-effecient as some Euro models I've seen...
3. The rich dump their gas-guzzlers down on the poor, and get the really freaking expensive hybrids.
4. The poor people are forced to pay as much as they would have to pay in the end for hybrids, just getting poorer, while the hybrids the rich now have barely make a dent, and they just continue to get richer.
5. The REALLY rich people get insane things like the H1. Ugh. 10mpg... but it doesn't matter - they're rich!
6. The poor can't even switch to mass transit, unless they live in NYC or NJ... I mean, if you live in Tampa, if you're even able to figure out what the heck bus you're supposed to be taking, it winds up taking you over 2 hours to go less than 10 miles. I kid you not.

Eurpoe has the nice thing that they have both great fuel effecient cars AND great mass transit. Sadly, I don't have the luxery of moving to Europe or the power to change the mass transit system around here. I'd love to get ahold of one of those nice fuel-effecient cars though :/

I was a lucky one - I was forced to buy gas-guzzlers several times, but finally wound up finding a wee 5-speed Saturn that claims up to 42 mpg (it actually gets closer to 30), for a price I can afford - because no one wants a 5-speed. But most of the time, the only thing people like me can find in their price range is something like one of those freakin HUGE land-yahts that get like 10 mpg... So.. yah. It can't really be helped, and we can be pissed about gas prices. So there. :p

(yes, I really am just jealous of you Europeans with your government that is actually PRACTICAL for the most part...)
